In a recent disclosure, Malika Andrews of ESPN’s NBA Today tweeted saying former Philadelphia 76ers‘ coach Doc Rivers will be making an appearance in the NBA today where speaks about the 76ers, James Harden and more. According to Andrews, Rivers pointed to a significant moment: When Harden decided to continue with the 76ers by opting in, Rivers sensed impending trouble.

This revelation follows recent internal rumors within the 76ers organization that suggested Harden played a vital role in Rivers’ dismissal. Sources revealed that several members of Rivers’ coaching staff believed Harden to be a driving force behind the coach’s firing, underscoring the internal discord within the 76ers’ team.

Rivers’ statement according to Andrews’ latest tweet, “Once you saw Harden opt in, you knew there was trouble in paradise,” serves as a poignant indication of the strained relationship between the coaching staff and the superstar shooting guard.

Since Rivers’ isn’t directly involved with the NBA, Harden’s future with the 76ers is also indecisive due to his recent controversial comments on 76ers President Daryl Morey and his clear intention to leave Philadelphia.

Clippers pushing for James Harden trade, prioritizing timely deal without overbidding

The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in the midst of a tumultuous situation as James Harden’s trade request continues to create waves. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported their urgent efforts to finalize a deal “sooner than later.” Harden’s preferred destination, the Los Angeles Clippers, is eager to seal this deal as soon as possible. However, negotiations have reached a stalemate. The Clippers have proposed a package, including a first-round pick, pick swap, and expiring contracts. Yet, they are cautious not to overbid, seeking ways to augment the value of their 2028 unprotected first-round pick.

They’ve offered Philly more than anybody else has — a first-round pick, a pick swap, expiring contracts. What the Clippers are trying to do right now is essentially say to Daryl Morey: ‘OK, you don’t believe that our 2028 unprotected first has enough value.’ They’re going around to other teams and seeing if that ’28 pick and/or a pick swap gets them maybe multiple picks. For the Clippers right now, it’s we’re not trying to offer you more, we’re not giving you that 2030 first-round pick, but let’s see what we can turn that 2028 pick, see if we can flip it and then see if there’s something that more interests Daryl Morey. That being said, there’s no traction, they’re not close to anything.” Wojnarowski said.

While Harden’s immediate return to practice in Colorado seemed uneventful, his determination to leave the 76ers remains palpable. Despite his efforts to force a trade, Morey, known for his resilience during previous trade negotiations involving players like Ben Simmons, stands firm.
