Legendary college basketball coach Bobby Knight unfortunately passed away at the age of 83. Knight was sick for the past couple of years, struggling with a long illness and was hospitalized in April. Knight’s family made the announcement about the passing away of the legendary Indiana coach on Wednesday night.

Former US President Donald Trump was one of the many people who paid their condolences to the legendary coach. Trump talked about how great of a person Knight was and talked about how unfortunate the loss of such a great person was. In a social media post, Trump expressed his thoughts.

Knight was a huge supporter of Trump and his Republican campaign before his presidency. Donald Trump had previously discussed in 2018 how Knight had encouraged him to run for president. Moreover, he later discussed how Knight endorsed him in the state of Indiana, which helped him a lot during the elections.

The legacy of legendary head coach Bobby Knight

Bobby Knight was a legendary college basketball coach who had one of the most storied careers in the history of college basketball. His career spanned over 42 years and three different schools: the Army, Indiana and Texas. He became the youngest Division-I head coach at the age of 24. He then won three NCAA titles with Indiana in 1976, 1981 and 1987.

The 1976 was the most historic one, the Indiana team led by Knight went undefeated throughout their campaign going 32-0 a feat that no other team has managed to achieve since. He also coached the 1984 U.S. Basketball team and won the gold medal.

He was also the winningest coach in college basketball, winning a total of 902 games in his 42-year career. The loss of such a huge figure in basketball is saddening and all prayers go out to Knight’s family.
