Kyle Kuzma back with LA Lakers? Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young accuse the Wizards’ star of “tampering” trade talks
Trae Young , Donovan Mitchell and Kyle Kuzma
Kyle Kuzma a former Los Angeles Lakers star, now a power forward for the Washington Wizards is making headlines after the Lakers front office reached out to the Wizards for enquiring about the star’s availability in order to potentially acquire his services for the lakers.
Fans were wondering about Kuzma’s return to the LA Lakers after he recently tweeted about the California breeze. Even his fellow NBA players joined in and trolled the forward a bit. In preparation for their back-to-back games against the LA Clippers and the Lakers beginning on Saturday night, Kuzma and the Wizards are in California.
He tweeted as soon as he touched down to let everyone know how much he missed the California wind. Then, in a hilarious accusation, Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young both accused him of tampering. All-Star guard Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers was quick to tell out that what Kuz did constituted tampering. The Atlanta Hawks star, Young, joined in on the jokes about the former champion. Fans, on the other hand, couldn’t resist making a joke about his joining the Lakers again. Here are some of the finest Twitter comments from fans.
Kyle Kuzma likes the association with Los Angeles even though he represents Washington. He claims to still have a home in the city of the team that first selected him. He reportedly wants to leave Washington and join a contending team or a big-market team, according to reports.
The former Laker is currently a valued trade asset. The former first-round pick has a $13 million player option on his contract for the upcoming season; but, given the reports that have been circulating regarding his perceived value, he would likely be better off declining that option and signing with an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

What can Kyle Kuzma bring to the Lakers’ table
Recently, Kyle Kuzma has excelled for the Wizards (11-18). The 27-year-old has been a productive scorer and rebounder as his current team struggles to win (with eight straight losses and 11 in the last 12 games). He has started 28 games at power forward and excels as a floor spacer, a skill that is highly regarded in today’s NBA. Kuzma averages 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists a game while hitting 34.3% of his 3-point attempts and 46.2% of his field goals overall.
Although he hasn’t had much of an impact on the Washington Wizards defensively, his size gives him an advantage over smaller wing players.
If Kuzma returns to Los Angeles (11-16) it might give the club new life. Outside of their Big Three, the Lakers are lacking in size and consistent scoring. Making the trade a reality only requires matching the forward’s value. It will be intriguing to see whether the Lakers can get Kuzma before the trade deadline.
A first-round pick, Patrick Beverley, and Kendrick Nunn make up the bulk of the team’s trade offer. It is uncertain whether the Wizards are at all interested in those assets. The Lakers, however, are currently experiencing their own slump. They have dropped four of their previous five games and are in serious need of a winning streak.
