Pop star Britney Spears is demanding a public apology from NBA rookie Victor Wembanyama, a week after an incident involving a slap occurred at a Vegas restaurant. Last week, Spears approached the rookie basketball player as he was leaving the venue and tapped him on the back. Unfortunately, a member of Wembanyama’s security team forcefully slapped Spears’ hand away.
The incident, which garnered significant media attention and sparked debate, prompted Spears to take to her Instagram page to address those criticizing her actions. In a video message posted on Tuesday, the pop icon expressed her disbelief at the notion that she deserved to be slapped during the incident.
“I didn’t appreciate the people saying that I deserve to be hit because no woman ever deserves to be hit,” Spears said. “I simply tapped him on the back and was backhanded, hit in my face, hit the floor, and my best friend picked me up and held me.”
While Spears did receive a private apology from the San Antonia Spurs player at her table approximately 30 minutes after the incident, she expressed her disappointment in not receiving a public apology. It remains to be seen how Wembanyama will respond to Spears’ demand for a public apology.
NBA fans react and troll Britney Spears
Following Britney Spears’ demand for a public apology from Victor Wembanyama, NBA fans on Twitter have wasted no time in expressing their opinions and trolling the pop star.
One user wrote, “dragging this on for clout”. Another user wrote, “If they apologized already why she talking about yet to receive a public apology for?”
Additionally, some fans have labeled Spears as attention-seeking, claiming that she is seeking publicity by making such demands. They argue that Wembanyama does not owe her a public apology since the incident did not result in any serious harm.
