The Los Angeles Lakers suffered two back-to-back losses to the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets. While peoples’ assessment of the losses in Games 1 and 2 varied, the end result remained the same. The Lakers succumbed to the pressure put up by the Nuggets, and at the helm of their downfall was their leader, LeBron James. “King James”, who was expected to dominate the play, has rather suffered brutally in this series so far.
“Father Time” might be getting to him, an assessment several fans had, but Draymond Green has decoded the real reason. Green, in The Volume Sports podcast, spoke about the Lakers’ Game 2 loss to the Nuggets. He said, “I like to educate people on the game of basketball. One thing that I understand other people don’t realize is how to actually watch a game and how to watch film.”
This indirectly set the tone for Green’s assessment which was something different than what fans assumed. The Golden State Warriors forward went on to say, “When I’m watching a game, when I’m watching film, I’m also looking at turning points.” He then spotted the turning point, saying, “A big turning point in the game was the LeBron mishap on the dunk.” Green then added, “That takes an 8-point lead to a 10-point lead. You get a timeout there, everything’s rolling, right?”
Green then went on to highlight the sequences in the game following the missed dunk and the timeout. He finally led to his conclusion by saying, “The rhythm’s off, like the game is no longer flowing like it was flowing leading up to that.” Green precisely pointed out how a mistake from LeBron James caused the entire squad to lose their rhythm, eventually losing the game.

LeBron James’ playoff struggles continue
The Western Conference Final has not been favorable to LeBron James, as he expressed disappointment in his teammates’ effort during Game 1. Critics are now questioning James’ abilities, as his statistics no longer back up the once-reliable King. In the Western Conference Finals, James has yet to make a single three-point shot out of the ten attempts. In Game 2, he attempted six three-pointers and missed every single one. Similarly, in Game 1, the King attempted four three-pointers, again missing all of them.
Moreover, James missing a wide-open dunk surprised the fans, which was supposed to be his highlight of the game. Unlike Draymond Green spotting just one issue in the entire game, fans have come to the conclusion that James is finally getting old.
No matter what the cause may be, James now cannot target the remainder of the squad for his own mistakes. It’ll be a tough time for him to figure out how to get back in form. But the Lakers will surely attempt to plan a comeback. Nevertheless, the Nuggets will not easily let go of the momentum they’ve gained as Jokic and the team dominate the WCF so far. Game 3 between both teams goes down on Sunday!
