Kevin Durant dropped a bombshell on the entire NBA community after demanding a trade away from the Nets. Kevin Durant has been mocked and trolled at, even by his former teammate Draymond Green this season. Kevin Durant’s legacy came into question after the Warriors won their second title without him, equaling their tally with and without him.

Draymond and Durant have been quite vocal on social media, even engaging in a war of words over Durant’s time at the Warriors. While they appear to be at odds against each other, they miraculously finally found some common ground to agree on, which is their stance on ‘The New Media’, as Draymond has jumped to his former teammates rescue regarding his stance in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets are tangled in their own webs, being laughed and trolled at for the atrocious season they went through. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have been at the fore of that disappointment and mockery, the star leaders of a club, that on paper could have reached The Finals.

Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors after 2 triumphant Rings in the NBA, looking to pair up with Kyrie Irving to have another chance at a Championship. He was a force to reckon with when he was with the Warriors, winning 2 Finals MVP’s while in San Francisco, being the spearhead along with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Unfortunately, his years at Brooklyn have been filled with disappointments, as he has not been able to grab even a conference Finals appearance.

Controversy has surrounded KD this postseason, as he had one of the most upsetting seasons among all the players in the NBA. The Brooklyn Nets was formed with the intention of making an immediate championship run but their dreams were shattered by teams simply much stronger than them chemistry wise. Sadly, they are out of the playoff race after getting swept in the first round.

Kevin Durant has reportedly asked for a trade outside Brooklyn and is being already slandered for betraying the Nets. The Brooklyn Nets had one of the most nightmarish seasons, with catastrophes on and off the court, as the Nets were swept off their feet by the Boston Celtics in the first round of playoffs, concluding their disappointing season and a disastrous postseason, far below preseason hopes and expectations, which has left KD to seek new challenges elsewhere. Which has led to further criticism from Shannon who called him a ‘runner’ who runs away when things get a little difficult.

Recently, in one of the ‘SportsCenter’ episodes, an anchor called Durant “emotional” while attacking him for the decision of parting ways with the Nets. We all know Draymond Green and his whole narrative on the ‘New Media’, now this gave him a chance to rage at the whole situation surrounding Kevin Durant.

The ‘New Media’, as Draymond calls it , is much more efficient way of presenting sporting opinions, which include open discussions and healthy comparisons rather than heated debates and people going off on each other. The outspoken Warriors Centre has made himself very vocal and involved in the recent conundrum surrounding Kevin Durant and his trade away from Brooklyn nets after just 3 seasons there.

Clearly, Draymond Green doesn’t want to encourage the media to tarnish Durant’s reputation and won’t keep shut and tolerate any slander. Despite talk of KD leaving the team when things get tough, Green does not see anything wrong with his choice. Green compared Durant’s request for a trade to athletes acting in their own best interests as businessmen, and how he has earned that place in life where he can decide what he wants to do. Draymond also stated how people today just cannot believe the fact that athletes can be Businessman too.

After leaving Golden State for the Nets in 2019, Durant attempted to gather his own squad and try to lead a championship run of his own. Irving and Durant joined the Nets during the summer of 2019, it’s been an era of disappointment and untapped potential thus far. The Big 3 of the Nets, consisting of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden played just 16 games together, making it hard to cash in fully on their names. Durant missed a quarter of this season due to a knee injury, Irving missed nearly two-thirds due to his refusal to get vaccinated, and Harden demanded a trade, one that brought back Ben Simmons, who still hasn’t played a game.

It’s certainly a triple-double of problems, problems and more problems for the Nets as they face plenty of questions financially and technically. From figuring out a way for the team to get over the lows and win a championship, the team also has to take care of the business side and make sure they can continuously support the franchise financially to keep competing in the future. As for KD, the future looks uncertain, as we look forward to how the story develops.
