Draymond Green believes Paolo Banchero is a special guy and will get the job done as he recently gave him his flowers. The former DPOY was already riding with the young gun since his days at Duke where he got all the correct recognition which is paying off now. The Orlando Magic drafted Paolo Banchero first overall in this year’s draft and that was probably the right decision. But nothing about that can be said or claimed for years as it’s very controversial with names like Chet Holmgren and Jabari Smith being in the race. Draymond Green though has his mind clear as he is rooting for the Magic’s young gun who currently is in the headlines. As he got shut-downed for the remaining games at NBA Summer League 2K23 in Las Vegas.
The Orlando Magic believe that two games are enough for them to understand their new guy and many around agree on it. Paolo Banchero was shut downed just hours before the most awaited match-up of his and Chet Holmgren. He wanted to suit up but respected the decision the franchise has made for him as it was for his good so he can be saved for the training camp. But those two games already have him hyped up as a star. Since he bullied his rivals during both the opportunities he got. Draymond Green though is heavy on his side and has even quoted him in the winners’ conversation already.
Paolo Banchero in the two games he played averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block. He also showcased his great defensive and playmaking skills while making a difference on both ends of the court. Also, just two games of his were enough to impress many around and now they wait for him to suit up again. Draymond Green is one such name who has already said it loud and clear that the kid is going to be special and is already a winner. Many believe it’s just some hype thrown by Draymond Green but honestly, he isn’t the one to do that. As since day one he has been real while appreciating and complimenting others especially the young guns of the league.
Draymond Green believes Paolo Banchero is special and already a winner
Draymond Green recently on his podcast discussed the young talents of the league who just got in. His guy is Paolo Banchero from the many names as appreciating and discussing him he quoted: “Paolo Banchero, I think, is one of the ones. And the reason I think Paolo is one of the guys is because of the things he did on the basketball court that were not scoring…Yes, he did all those things with the basketball, yes, he made the plays but the plays that he made that did not involve him having the basketball is why I think Paolo is going to be one of the guys. Him getting on teammates coming in as a rookie, the winning plays he was making down the stretch. When was the last time we saw the Orlando Magic compete and win games like we saw them competing and winning games when Paolo was on the court in those first two Summer League games? It’s been a while.”
Further Draymond Green took a shot at Orlando Magic as an organization and added: “I hope that organization is ready for that player because that player is a winner, he cares. I mean, he was out there playing the Summer League games like he was in the NBA Finals, with that type of intensity. That is a winner right in front of your eyes. I hope that organization is ready for that type of player. I don’t think that organization has seen that type of player for a long time…”
Draymond Green’s take makes sense as the organization hasn’t really been that great in the last years and is seen struggling in the rankings. So them getting the main guy is going to be a real deal for them. But again they have the experience and if they make some correct adjustments overall in their team to build and play around Paolo Banchero then their future is surely bright. As he has the potential to carry them across and establish them back in the league.
