“You’ve attached your name to a black man” Draymond Green goes berserk in latest rant to protect condemn media for attacking LeBron James
Draymond Green and Lebron James
Modern-day Golden State Warriors under Steve Kerr, Draymond Green won their fourth championship ring. With fans still celebrating, former DPOY has his own way of celebrating the victory. It was a double win for the Warriors, especially Draymond, who faced huge criticism throughout the season and playoffs. The Championship gave some “power” to his words, and he is now using his new hard-earned power to thrash the “OlD Media” stars that looked down on the Warriors.
Moreover, he didn’t stop on the criticism that the Warriors’ had to face from the analysts, he added fellow LeBron James on his side while targeting the people who use ill words for the King as well.
The first three championships the Warriors and Green won were against LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. They almost had a 100% finals record against the James and Cavs had it not been the unfortunate upset in 2016 after being down one game to three. And Green and co had the highest of respect for their opponents; off the court of course.
Draymond Green releases a new attack on “Old Media” for their negative comments on LeBron James
Since starting his podcast, Green has established himself as the face of the “new media.”, as he himself proclaims to be. On his podcast, he’s talked a lot about the “old media.”, and how they try to tear apart players’ legacy with their comments. But Green differentiates himself from those practices.
On the latest episode of the podcast, the Warriors’ defensive player even called out certain analysts for their lack of integrity, including Skip Bayless, Kendrick Perkins, Bill Simmons, and Nick Wright. Green also spoke about his rival and the media treatment he’s been given throughout his career.
He said about the comments on LeBron James, “You’ve attached your name to a black man for all of these years and that black man is none other than King James, LeBron James himself. And you tried to tear him down as much as you can all these years.”
The four-time NBA champion also pointed out how the “new media” does things differently and how no one wants to hear “old, dried up, tired” stuff from analysts anymore. Michigan State player criticized the media for always adding LBJ in the conversations, even though he is remotely related to the topics of discussions. As per Green, it is done to cause drama and spread rumors and gain publicity rather than to do with basketball.
Green added, “Stop attaching your name to LeBron James. Stop. Because you know LeBron James and his incredible life that he’s lived and continues to live, that there will always be something for you to talk about, if I just attach my name to LeBron James.”
Well, to be fair, it is hard to disagree with Draymond Green’s comments. Many TV shows and analysts use LeBron’s name just to get attention from the people and even use ill words for the 4 –time NBA Finals MVP to create hype. We have rarely seen LeBron responding to those comments, but Green took the responsibility and spoke for his “brother”. Fortunately, Green is using new media mediums to reach out to people where he has the control over the things to discuss and never gave any ill-treatment to active athletes.
He gave examples of some of the new entrants in the media world like JJ Redick, and CJ McCollum. Unlike other media members, Redick, Green, McCollum, and other NBA players are not focused on hot takes and focus mainly on the events.
