Luka Doncic has been phenomenal for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2021-22 season. Not only has he played as an All-Star caliber but his form in the postseason has been clutch for the team to reach the Western Conference Finals. With the Game 1 showdown being staged at Chase Center, Luka Magic could not elaborate upon his scoring prowess than to Andrew Wiggins who kept him quiet for most of the game.

A major reason for the Mavs’ loss was the low scoring performance from talisman Doncic, who recorded his lowest scoring outing of the postseason. Moreover, the 2019 Rookie of the Year was good for 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists on the night, while giving off 7 turnovers.

“You’d say he had his worst shooting game of his career, statistically speaking, and you know, some people will say, ‘Oh, he was shut down,’ Green stated. “You don’t shut Luka Doncic down! Even in shutting him down, he had 20 points like you don’t stop guys like that from scoring. They’re going to score, your job is to make it tough on him and Wiggins did that.”

Not only Andrew Wiggins stop Doncic in majority of the game, but even went onto score a significant tally of 19 points. With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson coming to show late in Game 1, it was Jordan Poole, Looney and Wiggins who maintained a consistent scoring rate for the home team.

Now with Game 2 all set to unravel, all eyes will be on Wiggins and how he can help his team once again by stopping the wrath of Luka Doncic. Will the Mavericks be able to equalize the series by clinching an away road win? Or will Warriors take a hefty advantage in the WC Final series before the festivity moves to Dallas? Remains to be seen.
