The Draymond Green–Jordan Poole saga won’t be coming to an end anytime soon. After their infamous bust-up in practice back in October 2022, in which Green took things too far and punched Poole in the face, the bond the two once shared was broken forever. The unfortunate incident affected the Golden State Warriors team chemistry to a large extent, and they were eventually eliminated in the second round of the 2023 Western Conference Playoffs.
Since then, Green has signed a 4-year extension with the Warriors, and Poole is now a member of the Washington Wizards. Green recently made an appearance on ‘The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone’, where he was again asked about that incident with Poole. Poole’s father, Anthony Poole, wasn’t buying Green’s justification on why he punched his son one bit, and now Poole’s best friend, Ralen Brown, has joined in on the action too.
Brown shared a clip of an old media interview of Green on his story on his Instagram page, in which Green praised Poole for talking too much trash despite only being a rookie. He attacked Green in the caption, saying that he supposedly called himself the team’s “OG” and “leader” but ended up failing when he took a swing at his own teammate.
According to Brown, Green is someone who loves to talk trash but had a moment of inexcusable failure of leadership as a brother and a teammate and showed a lack of maturity while dealing with the situation.
Green has always taken the opportunity and spoken about the issue whenever he has been asked about it. Poole, on the other hand, has always maintained silence on the matter despite being asked about it multiple times.
However, after Green’s latest comments, Poole shared an interesting Instagram story in which he posted the lyrics of the song “Bottom” by Gunna, which say, “Talk of the topic…” and “Find you a hobby…”. It could be completely unrelated to what Green said, but the nature of the story’s timing definitely proves otherwise.
Who are some of the other sets of teammates that never got along in NBA history?
Draymond Green and Jordan Poole are by no means the first set of teammates that have had issues with one another. The NBA has seen its fair share of issues between teammates who haven’t gotten along. The first set of names that usually comes to mind when you think of beef between teammates is none other than Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. Although the dynamic duo won 3 championships together, they never saw eye-to-eye on multiple things concerning the team.
Boston Celtics legends Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo did not get along, too, with the two reportedly going to the extent of having a boxing match to sort out their issues. Steve Nash and Dwight Howard didn’t particularly get along during their stint as teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers, with Nash often questioning the work ethic of Howard.
The list is incomplete without the mention of Chicago Bulls all-time greats Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Two former great friends, teammates, and brothers who today no longer share the same relationship. It all started with Pippen criticizing the way he and his teammates were portrayed in Jordan’s documentary ‘The Last Dance.’ He then called Jordan a “horrible player” in an interview. To make matters worse, Jordan’s son is currently in a relationship with Pippen’s ex-wife since September 2022.
