The tight first-round series ended in heartbreak for the Sacramento Kings. Coached by Mike Brown, the men in purple and white fought hard against the defending champions, Golden State Warriors. However, in a spectacular performance by Stephen Curry, the Kings fell in Game 7. Curry exploded for the Warriors in a do-or-die game with 50 points. Kevon Looney played an exceptional hand with 21 rebounds. For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis was the top scorer with 22 points. In the end, Curry’s stellar gameplay proved too much for the Kings, as the score at the end of regulation was 120-100.

After the Warriors’ victory, Draymond Green spoke on a podcast about the events that unfolded in Game 7. Of the many things he said, one was about Sabonis’ actions after the Kings lost. Domantas Sabonis reportedly walked straight into the locker room after the game and didn’t shake hands with anyone. Shaking hands with the opponent at the end of a game is considered as a mark of respect. Not doing so is regarded as disrespectful to your opponents’ skill, talent, efforts and hard work. Speaking about Sabonis’ denial of acknowledging the Warriors’ victory, Green spoke about how he lost respect for the Kings’ Centre after that.

“Lost a lot of respect for Sabonis. You don’t shake guys hands after you lose? I don’t respect that,” Draymond Green said, talking about Sabonis. “I once left the court when we lost in Game 7 to the Cleveland Cavaliers and I went to my locker room and I sat down and I said ‘this don’t feel right’. Then I walked back on and showed everybody love. You lost, deal with it. Pay your respect. That was whack to me,” he concluded.

On the back of Stephen Curry‘s mind-blowing performance, the Warriors have now advanced to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Although their tough series against the Kings is done and dusted, the next round isn’t gonna be easier. Golden State will now face the Los Angeles Lakers in the Semis starting on May 2nd (US). While the Lakers and Warriors don’t have a huge playoff history, LeBron James will be a rather familiar face for the defending champs. In fact, James would look to put an end to the Warriors’ impressive playoff domination in the Western Conference.

Steph Curry and Co. are currently 19-0 in the Western Conference playoffs. Although they have lost twice in the NBA postseason, both losses came in the Finals against an Eastern Conference team. Moreover, the Warriors have collected two consecutive wins on the road, an area they were struggling in this season. Therefore, they would go into the contest against the Lakers with a healthy boost of morale and confidence.

On the flip side, the Lakers have also had an impressive postseason. In fact, they’ve been playing brilliantly since the mid-season break. Led by LeBron James’ brilliant gameplay, Los Angeles eliminated the number two seed in the West, the Memphis Grizzlies. Moreover, the Lakers have had nice all-round team performances from Anthony Davis, DeAngelo Russell, Austin Reaves and more. It will be exciting to see how these two solid sides shape up in the Conference Semis as fans and critics all sit tight in anticipation.
