Draymond Green could tilt the balance of the NBA when he hits free agency in 2024. The forward, in past, had shown great interest in playing alongside LeBron James, and per Bill Simmons, it isn’t a far-fetched dream. Green has already stood up for James on and off the court multiple times in the past. Now the real question arises: Is it time for him to play alongside his close friend?

Green recently shed some light on his future with the Warriors while also saying it wasn’t under his control. He said, “I want to play 15 years in the NBA… I do want to be here.” He then added, “As far as the probability goes, I can’t necessarily give you that because it’s not up to me.”

What happens this post-season will define what the Warriors want to do with Green. A $60 million/3 years contract seems like a golden opportunity for the Warriors despite Green’s unwillingness to continue. Whatever happens with the contract situation is a far-fetched discussion. Though, it will be interesting to see how Green performs in his potentially last season for the Warriors.

Green had mentioned that he wanted to play 15 seasons, and the player is 11 seasons down. Is it now the time to move on to another team, and if it is, then which team? Green’s free agency will potentially be the most discussed topic post this season. Let us now take a deeper look into his contract situation.

Green had previously signed a four-year/ $99,666,362 contract with the Golden State Warriors. This included $99,666,362 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $24,916,591. His contract comes to an end in 2022-2023, when he will earn a base salary of $25,806,469. This was Green’s second contract extension and could potentially be his last one with the Golden State Warriors.

Bill Simmons, who has made a name for himself as a critic and a sportswriter, is also famous for his wild predictions and takes. One of these recent predictions includes Green’s contract situation. Though, the player also added that the situation wasn’t under his control.

Simmons had an answer to this question as he dropped the most ridiculous prediction. Simmons said that he sees Green going to the Mavericks to play alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. If this wasn’t enough, Simmons also added that he sees LeBron James somehow finding a way into the Mavs squad as well. Simmons’ justification? He said, “I don’t know, I’m just feeling a Dallas scent. There’s some Dallas stuff that feels ‘scenty’ to me.”

Whether or not Green joins the Mavericks alongside Doncic and Irving is a matter for the future, and so is his playing alongside James. Though, for now, it’ll be interesting to watch how the games turn out for the Warriors during the Playoffs and how Draymond Green performs.
