It’s been almost 5 years since Kevin Durant left that almighty Golden State Warriors side. With 2 back to back champions in 2017 and 2018, KD left with quite a lot of honors to his name. But the biggest of it all was, being there for Draymond Green. That’s according to him. With the recent Green saga, KD had his saying implying the Power Forward was never like that when he was still at the Bayside.

In the recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Draymond let out his frustration on his former teammate Kevin Durant after his comments on the Green’s situation:

Glad Nurk is alright. Never seen that before on a basketball court [or] NBA game. I hope Draymond gets to help he needs.

And Draymond was quick to react to respond saying:

It really pissed me off when Kevin Durant said, ‘He wasn’t like that when I was around. I hope he get’s the help he needs.’

It was a strange sight to behold and listen given both shared the court a few years ago. And now it feels like neither has even an idea about the good times they shared in Golden State Warriors. But part of Kevin Durant’s departure, as per many, was in the hands of Draymond Green. Since then both had their ups and downs in their career. But for now, the spotlight is on Green.

It has been a season to forget for both the Warriors and Draymond Green, and the season is far from over. With 4 suspensions already to his name, Green has found himself a mountain to climb – whether it is the continuous scrutiny or the backlash from his former teammates. Their current record speaks for itself with how low the team has fallen off. 17 wins and 19 losses, 5th in their standing, and a barrage of questions lingering about the squad’s mentality – time is short for the 2022 Champions.

Struggle continues for the Warriors

Ask any Golden State Warriors about struggle, and even they may find it an unfamiliar question. Where do you begin with it? If you had asked any NBA fans where would they see the Warriors heading into the 2023-24 season, most of them would have put them as a key challenge for the Championship. But with half the season gone, expectations haven’t really been met.

With the trade that saw Chris Paul walk into the Warriors’ team, it was a shock to many. While some deemed it as a smart move to provide cover to their talisman Stephen Curry, things haven’t worked the best. We are all familiar with the injury record of CP3 and it’s back to haunt him again. Fingers have been pointed at the board for the reckless business but it’s a mess that goes far beyond injuries and disciplinary choices.

With another half of the season to go and the NBA trade open, the Warriors have to act and act fast. It remains what this team would look like with the return of Draymond Green. But there is still that fear looming around the fans on whether will things change for the better. It is a bumpy road but the journey is far from over.
