Draymond Green was on Colin Cowherd’s show, where he opened up his mindset right before the NBA Finals and also explained some of the comments he made in the past. One of the things that he explained was the reason he picked Boston Celtics over Miami Heat to win the Eastern Conference Final.

Golden State Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals and Draymond Green was excited to reach the final stage with the same Warriors team. The excitement was understandable as the Warriors had missed the playoffs in the previous 2 seasons. They were targeted for the same, yet come the 2022-22 season, they had a perfectly fitting answer by the Dubs to their Critics. While on a show, where Big Shaq questioned Draymond, who they want to face in the Finals from the East? Outspoken Draymond had a clear answer to it, “We gonna face Boston Celtics in the Finals.”, angering some of the Miami Heat faithful.

But Green’s prediction proved right in the end, and he explained his take on the prediction on Colin Cowherd’s Podcast. Especially after Game-6 heroics and close Game-7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Though Jimmy Butler did lay unimaginable basketball, in both games after the prediction, it was just a little short of what Miami was looking for. Green too, despite his bold predictions, seemed surprised with the turnaround, but was confident in his take.

3-time NBA Champion Draymond played against both teams in regular seasons. He and his team had a 2-0 series lead over Miami Heat, while they share one game apiece against Boston. It was a bit clear that Draymond would consider the Celtics stronger than Miami Heat. But he gave an in-depth analysis of his prediction to Colin.

“I thought there was no chance,” Draymond accepted the shocking turn of events. “Obviously, Jimmy Butler had one of those Jimmy Butler-type games that we all now know that he’s capable of, and we didn’t just figure that out with that game. We been knew Jimmy was capable of that. … The reality is, if he didn’t get 49, they didn’t have a chance of winning. He had 35 last night, no chance at winning. But I was extremely shocked that they were able to go in without Tylor Herro and go into Boston and win Game 6. I thought there was no chance.”

Butler nearly did prove Green wrong on his own and might have extra motivation to play against the Warriors in the Finals. But it was more of injuries, setbacks, and a poor run of form for some of the scorers that left them on the wrong end of the results.

Now, Green and his team will take on 1st time NBA Finalist Celtics team. Both teams have humongous talent and the capability to hurt each other in long 7-game series. As for as the Heat team is concerned, they surely have some unfinished business to look after next season.
