Ben Simmons has been the subject of intense criticism and trade rumors after his disappointing performance in the last season. But he still has a supporter in Draymond Green, the four-time champion and defensive anchor of the Golden State Warriors. Green’s comments contrast with the majority opinion of fans, who have questioned Simmons’ fit and future with the Brooklyn Nets.
Green elaborated on his stance on Simmons in a recent episode of “Podcast P with Paul George”, where he joined the Clippers star for a candid conversation. Green argued that Simmons has not regressed as a player, but rather lost his confidence along the way. He said, “You’ve seen people lose confidence in their game, like Ben Simmons. Ben Simmons is the perfect example. Ben Simmons is still the same Ben Simmons we watched dominate in Philly.”
Further, talking about Simmons losing his confidence, Green added, “You know the only difference between Ben Simmons in Philly and Ben Simmons now is confidence… I know how it feels to lose confidence, I’ve lost confidence in my shot. I feel bad for people that lose their confidence because they are still the same player.”
Green praised Simmons for his passing ability and his impact on the game, but acknowledged that his lack of confidence has affected his performance. He said he was being honest and supportive of Simmons, who has faced a lot of backlash and skepticism. However, not everyone agreed with Green’s take and some mocked him for it.

Twitter reacts to Draymond Green’s take on unconfident Ben Simmons
Green’s take did not go unnoticed by the internet, where he was met with a lot of ridicule and sarcasm. Fans were quick to point out his own shooting woes and use his own words against him. Some even drew parallels between him and Simmons and their similar challenges on the offensive end.
Here are some of the tweets that fans posted to mock Green:
Green has a point when he says that Simmons needs to find his confidence again, but that’s not enough. Simmons also needs to work on his shooting, which is a crucial skill in today’s NBA. He has not only been inconsistent on the offensive end but also less impactful on the defensive end due to multiple back injuries. However, he is determined to come back stronger and prove his critics wrong.
