On Saturday night, Draymond Green who is the star player for the Golden State Warriors was ejected from the third-quarter match against Cleveland Cavaliers after an argument with Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell.

Running back Green shoved Mitchell after a change of play and that is where this altercation kicked off. Mitchell ran back at Green as he drove up the court and gave him a tough foul as punishment. The case became more interesting due to the unequal penalties given. Mitchell got a regular foul, while Green got just a technical foul despite the violence. Despite being known for his emotional reactions, Green surprisingly accepted his role. He even cheered, clapped, and chatted with home fans afterward, resembling a WWE villain.

Crew Chief Ben Taylor explained their position after reviewing the incident. He said it was Mitchell’s answer of first jabbing that led to a technical flag. The order of events was confirmed by analysis and the referee finally did. Thus, Green got two technical fouls during that game and this was why he was dismissed.

Before that moment, it looked like Dwyane Wade was venting, most probably frustrated by how the Warriors had played all night long until it was his time to go. This event added more drama with intense rivalry between the two strong entities and aroused the interest of many fans and observers as to what would happen when these two giants met.

It was, however, an interesting factor as each of the players received different punishments. While there were cases of aggressiveness in both cases, green was awarded with a Technical Foul while Mitchell received a Common Foul. This is something usually relegated to dramatic occasions, but Green went ahead and did it as well. He yelled excitedly until he reached the locker room, walking around with home supporters and acting like a WWE bad guy.

According to Ben Taylor, the crew chief, it was Mitchell’s retaliation that resulted in Green being penalized. Indeed, the referee’s postmortem confirmed the sequence of these events when Green was dismissed for the two techno-fouls he incurred during the game.
