The San Antonio Spurs emerged as the fortunate winners of the highly anticipated NBA Draft Lottery, clinching the #1 pick. While it is obviously not confirmed, Victor Wembanyama is bound to be their top selection, per widespread and unanimous speculation. Wembanyama, according to many, is a phenom and something we’ve never seen before. While several fans state he is the best draft prospect “ever,” Draymond Green disagrees. Green cites the year 2003, reminding fans of the greatest NBA prospect ever, LeBron James.

Draymond Green went on The Volume Sports to talk about the 2023 NBA Draft and somewhat derail the Wembanyama hype train. Green was asked multiple questions about Wembanyama, with the first being how many players would not be traded for Wembanyama in the NBA. Green gave an answer that didn’t surprise people, but the statistics somewhat did.

He started off by saying, “I’m not sure how many, but there’s definitely a few.” He added, “LeBron wouldn’t be. Steph wouldn’t be. I don’t think Luka would be. Joker wouldn’t be. And I think there’s a few more names out there.”

Green then went on to say, “Let’s just say for the stake of standard roster spots [450 spots]. 435-440 would be, which is saying a lot.” Draymond Green again reiterated his stance on LeBron James’ greatness even during the draft and his career post that. Green spoke about how everyone was going to be talking about Wembanyama being the “best prospect” due to recency bias.

But he wasted no time in telling the world how James was already a phenom at 15 years old. Green said, “He’s [Wembanyama] the second-best prospect since LeBron.” He added, “I’m not going off the rails and saying he’s the best prospect ever.”

Green finally sealed the records by making a concluding statement as he said, “You forget how big of a prospect LeBron was because of how much he’s done.”

He has now managed to get the Los Angeles Lakers to the conference finals and is hoping to capture the ultimate gold. Draymond Green has just reiterated these facts, but fans don’t seem to be taking it well.
