Miami heat displayed just why they were the numero uno team in the Eastern Conference after they bamboozled Atlanta Hawks 115-91 to win Game 1 of the seven-match series to take the early advantage. Although majority of the Heat stars performed well, but the headlines were stolen by someone coming off the bench, Duncan Robinson.
While many expected Trae Young led Atlanta Hawks to give a stern competition to Miami heat after battling past Hornets and Cavs to cement their place in the playoffs, Erik Spoelstra’s squad showcased just why they are one of the favorites to star in the Conference Finals. What even more impressive? Heat did it on the backs of their own product, Duncan Robinson.

Duncan Robinson feasted on the Atlanta Hawks’ defense with an extremely efficient game, scoring 27 points in 9-10 shooting. He broke the franchise’s record for triples in a single playoff game with eight triples. Going “KABOOM!” from deep so efficiently gave the Heat an easy route to victory.

How rare to fans get to witness someone from the bench coming to annihilate the opposition. But Duncan Robinson was in a mood of his own, having a day like no other. With all the other 3-point records Robinson has for the Heat, namely most makes in a season, for which he owns the top three spots on the leader board, it completely makes sense that he takes another. His ability to hit deep shots and shoot effectively after movement gives the Heat’s offense a very dangerous dimension.
Robinson becoming one of the league’s best shooters after going undrafted shows why the Heat are as successful as they are. The franchise’s player development is second-to-none. Finding diamonds in the rough and acquiring stars has made the Heat a formidable squad gradually through the years, courtesy to a steady process.
Will we see Robinson commencing his same red-hot form in game 2 as well? Or will Hawks’ defense will have the answer to Miami’s bench strengths? Remains to be seen.
