“He will not allow anybody to be better than him at anything,” Unsurprised Dwayne Wade reveals the secret work ethic of LeBron James which helped him evolve as one of the greatest scorers ever

LeBron James is only 795 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul Jabbar‘s all-time scoring record. Despite being 20 years in NBA, there has been a large amount of disagreement among NBA players and analysts regarding prime James, this only speaks of his greatness. When it comes to the ‘King’ as a player and as an individual, there is nobody who could do it better than Dwyane Wade

D. Wade who won two of his three championships with James in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat opened up about the King’s secret to greatness and potentially breaking Jabbar’s record this season. While speaking to Sports Illustrated when asked if he ever thought LeBron would ever break the record, Wade said, “I can’t use the word surprised if I’m going to say LeBron James’s name in anything.”

LeBron James has been a great player for over two decades, an achievement that is perhaps an impossible feat. He is almost 38 and is still averaging an unprecedented number of points per game (26.5) this season. Speaking of the 4 x MVP D. Wade said that he has been so great for so long that we haven’t even fully realized his greatness. “I think sometimes we’re living in the LeBron James era of life, and we haven’t had the chance to step back and look at it just yet,” said Wade.

The former Miami Heat legend also thinks that one of the reasons that the Los Angeles Lakers star wants to break the all-time scoring record is because people say he is not a good scorer. “He’s not a selfish individual on a basketball floor. But I feel that if there is one record that LeBron wants to walk away with more than the assist record, it would be the scoring record. And it’s because of what people say he cannot do,” he concluded.

D Wade thinks it’s going to take another 40 years for another player to break LeBron James all-time scoring record

Kareem made the scoring record on April 5, 1984, over 38 years and 8 months ago, since then, not one player has been able to come even near that record. Here we are, almost 4 decades later, and the record is being broken by a player not considered good at scoring.

Reflecting on James’ achievements, Wade remarked, “Because he’s so great at other things and it comes so natural to him, just the one thing that was not necessarily natural, he now has an opportunity to be what we know it’s going to take somebody another 40 years before they are able to even come close to.”

Even though James has been criticized for being too nice and lacking a killer’s instinct, the 13 x All-Star opined, “The thing about LeBron is he’s a sponge. So, he will not allow anybody to be better than him at anything….he wants to be better than everybody at everything.”

Despite the fact that LeBron didn’t come into the league with scoring talent, he had the energy to learn and execute. “When you see a guy like that who has the body to be able to do that, and he has the energy to be able to consistently do that, you know you’re watching something special,” said the former champion.
