Dwight Howard forced his ex to pay $500,000 after infamously ugly ‘fatherhood’ dispute

Dwight Howard forced his ex to pay $500,000 after infamously ugly ‘fatherhood’ dispute

Dwight Howard, Royce Reed

In 2010, Dwight Howard and Royce Reed, a woman he was romantically affiliated with, were factions to a lawsuit. Reed and Dwight came to an agreement that prevented Reed from mentioning the father of her child in court. Howard has requested $500 million from Reed, his son’s mother.

The drama off the court surpasses Dwight Howard’s ascent to fame and subsequent fall from grace in the NBA during the past ten years. Howard was once the revered superstar of a Magic team that reached the NBA Finals, and while his fall from power since then has been well-documented, this decline may have also been accompanied by some drama off the court. When Howard’s popularity started to climb, something altered. On and off the court, the former DPOY established a certain type of notoriety.

Who was Dwight Howard and how dominant was he?

Without a question, Dwight Howard belongs in the Hall of Fame. People often forget that at one point in his career, when he was among the top three players in the NBA and the strongest centre, because of some of his “unlikable” traits. A five-time All-NBA First Team selection, three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, four-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection, five-time NBA rebounding leader, and two-time NBA block leader. Howard has played in the NBA All Star game on eight different occasions. He won a championship with the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers and won an Olympic gold medal in 2008 with the “Redeem Team.”

His decline from the peak started in 2012 when he joined Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles, and it continued in 2013 when he joined the Houston Rockets. After three seasons, Howard left Houston in 2016 and started his extended league-wide tour. He began by spending one season in Atlanta before moving on to Charlotte, Washington, LA, Philly, and then returning to LA for his third stint with the Lakers. Do not allow Dwight Howard’s most recent seasons make you doubt his skill as one of the best big men to ever lace up. Superman tormented the league for almost ten years, compiling impressive stats and a full trophy cabinet.

Howard’s $500 million lawsuit for ex-wife

Basketball Wives contestant Royce Reed allegedly discussed Dwight and his parental status while she was on-air. This amounted to at least a few instances of a breach of the settlement agreement between Reed and Dwight. Eventually, Reed and Dwight decided to settle the dispute outside of court for $500,000, a wise decision for everybody concerned. It’s possible that Dwight didn’t get his $500 million that he wanted, but the fact that the issue had been settled would have added to Dwight’s feeling of tranquility. But throughout that period of the NBA, it had developed from a simple narrative into a full-fledged legal dispute.

Howard has made an effort lately to repair his reputation, both on and off the court. Less is spoken about his children, and he has been open about his prior transgressions, returning to the Los Angeles Lakers, where Howard memorably scorched out before going on to win a championship. When Howard first entered the NBA, he was a young, inexperienced player and he now understands that his acts have repercussions. The future will reveal how this impacts him, but maybe his maturity and the tragedy that befell him will make him realize that life is about more than just drama.
