Dwight Howard made many regretful decisions during his NBA career. Many argue that the big man would have been a completely different player with a stacked resume if he made the right decisions at the right time. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen and Howard now regrets some of the moves he made. The 3×DPOY recently revealed how leaving Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers to join hands with James Harden and the Houston Rockets was a mistake.

Howard recently appeared on “My Expert Opinion,” show and shed light on the big relocation he regrets now. The NBA champion quoted, “I looked at [James Harden] as a younger version of Kobe. I don’t know why I was thinking that. I was thinking at that time me and James could have been the new version of Kobe and Shaq. Because he is the young 2-guard coming up in the league. I am the older dominating center… The Lakers decision was solely based on me and James could have been better at that time.”

Howard further even mentioned how he and Kobe Bryant could have worked things out. But he didn’t give that idea a fair thought and joined the Houston Rockets in 2013 after playing with Black Mamba for a season. Howard also believes if he would have stayed with the Lakers, the wrong narratives around him would have gone.

Dwight didn’t just stop there and regret the move he thought will help them become one of the best duos ever. He said, “If I would’ve sat down and really thought about my decisions without being in my emotions, I probably would’ve stayed in LA.”

James Harden’s impressive talent as a superstar is widely acknowledged, but he is not typically mentioned in the same conversation as Kobe Bryant, who is regarded as a basketball legend. Some may feel that Harden missed an opportunity to reach the same level of greatness as Bryant.

Last season, Dwight Howard played for the Taoyuan Leopards in the Taiwanese League due to the lack of satisfying offers from NBA teams. However, he now desires to return to the NBA, as he wishes to retire while playing in the league. In a recent interview with Complex, Howard disclosed the five teams he would like to join for his potential return to the NBA.

Dwight Howard has expressed his preference for joining certain NBA teams, including the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Atlanta Hawks. Notably, he has a particular fondness for the Lakers and envisions a potential fourth stint with the team.
