“Such a cliche attempt” Dwight Howard tried to win over Sixers fan base by regarding Wilt Chamberlain as favorite player

NBA player Dwight Howard is still a free agent. It will be interesting to see whether Dwight will get a deal for himself for the upcoming 2022-2023 season or not. Howard changed from the Philadelphia 76ers after playing for them in the 2020-2021 season and got into the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2021-2022 NBA season. When Dwight was playing for the LA Lakers, during his second stint he admitted that he had always been attracted to the team and idolized Wilt Chamberlain. Dwight beamed with confidence that he could make this opportunity with the Lakers team count as he was in the best place he has ever been, mentally and physically.

Dwight Howard drawed inspiration from his idol Wilt Chamberlain and tried to reflect Wilt’s legacy in an 2019 interview as he was back in the purple and yellow uniform once again. He said, “That’s my favorite player … Wilt is my favorite player. I’ve looked up tons of videos on him, I have a Wilt Chamberlain painting in my room … I was about to get ‘Wilt Chamberlain’ tattooed on my arm right here. He’s my favorite player, and he’s one of my favorite people in life. The thing that he did was sacrifice.

He further added, “A lot of time it’s hard for us to sacrifice because we want to be that person when the only thing that matters is getting another trophy. And when Wilt decided ‘Hey, I’ve done all the scoring, I’ve done all the other stuff, let me just do what this team is asking me to do,’ he had one of the best seasons of his career. He won a championship. I want to have that same approach, and bring out the will inside of me and help this team win.” Dwight wanted to make the same transition Wilt made while moving from LA Lakers to Phila. He wants to focus on what the teams expects from Howard.

It appears that Dwight Howard aimed to imitate Wilt Chamberlain, one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA, who played for both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers, winning titles with each team. However, many believe that it was Howard’s false attempt to win over the sixers fans by terming Wilt as his idol and one of his favorite players. Maybe he wasn’t playing around and really meant that. But no matter what even if he was playing around he won the game as he ended up getting a deal with the Sixers after winning the Title in 2020.

NBA player Dwight Howard had plans to join the WWE if he didn’t get a deal this season. However, it is confirmed that he will be seen competing on a reality TV show, “Special Forces: The Ultimate Test.” This clears the air that Howard might not be playing in the upcoming NBA regular season. Dwight will be one of 16 celebrities competing on the show. The competitors will undergo intense military-style training, taking on several challenges that several ex-military operatives will monitor. The show will kick start in January and feature other sports figures like former soccer star Carli Lloyd, Mike Piazza, etc.
