One of the most anticipated events of the year is the NBA All-Star games. The event takes place every year, where the best players in the league compete against one another. The whole three days of the weekend, different types of matchups are played for charity, heading to the main game on the last day.
Matchups like ‘Rising Stars’ games where the best rookies in the league compete, followed by the Skills challenge, three-point contest, and Slam Dunk contest are absolute blockbusters. But fans most look forward to the final day where the best players from both conferences compete in a game. This year’s game took place on Sunday in Indiana. This year the NBA brought back the best of the East vs. best of the West format.

However, fans were highly disappointed by the game. Being the ‘bests in the NBA’, the players did not show any competitiveness. The defense was almost not played at all. But the offense was not up to the mark either. The teams did manage to score big, but they also missed almost half the shots they made. Both team’s field goals percentage was less than 57%.
Players were also seen taking big shots but were missing terribly. Many players like Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, and Damian Lillard, who are known to be great shooters, were taking half-court shots just to miss and not score for the team. Players were also missing dunks and could not do the things they do in a regular season game.
The 2024 NBA All-Star game left the fans disappointed on social media
The NBA All-Star game is a fan-voted event where the fans vote for their favorite players to get selected in the best of the league teams. Getting selected as an All-Star is important for any NBA player’s career, as it is considered to have significance in the player’s resume. Hence, fans take these votes very seriously and are often also seen fighting for their favorites if they do not get selected.

Hence fans always have high expectations for the actual game. But this year, similar to the last year, the game did not live up to the mark. The players seem disinterested in winning the game and competing. After the game, fans said they missed how the All-Star was played in the past and expressed their disappointment on X.
Team East won the game over Team West with a score of 211-186. This was the first in history where a team has scored 200 or more points in an All-Star game. Damian Lillard was named the All-Star MVP this year. Because of Team West’s win, Special Olympics of Indiana will receive $240,000.
