During the third quarter of the season opener between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns at the Chase Center, there was an unfortunate incident. An elderly fan collapsed on the sidelines. Fortunately, she was able to walk off the court and even waved to the crowd, reassuring everyone that she was okay.
During “Inside the NBA” on TNT, Charles Barkley didn’t hold back from injecting humor into the situation. Barkley had expressed his frustration with the Warriors during the first half when they were trailing by 15 points. So, when the elderly fan collapsed, he seized the moment to poke fun at Steph Curry and the team, who had lost a home game due to their subpar performance.

Barkley said:
The lady is about the same age as the Warriors’ starters.
Barkley used this comment to point out that the Warriors are one of the older teams in the league. They’re ranked as the fourth oldest, with six players aged 30 or above, which is the most in the league. Acquiring the 38-year-old Chris Paul in exchange for the 24-year-old Jordan Poole doesn’t really help the case.
Disappointing performance from Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in their season opener
The Golden State Warriors had a lackluster performance in their season opener against the Phoenix Suns. Only their superstar guard, Steph Curry, managed to score more than 20 points, finishing with 27 points. However, he struggled with his shooting, making 8 out of 20 field goals and 4 out of 14 three-point attempts.
Curry’s subpar performance wasn’t the only issue; Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins combined to shoot 8 for 30 from the field, which hindered the Warriors’ momentum throughout the game.
The Warriors’ latest addition, Chris Paul, didn’t meet the expectations either. He struggled in the first half, going 0 for 6 from the field, and finished the game with a 4 for 15 shooting performance. In the end, the Warriors collectively shot an abysmal 23% from the field. Meanwhile, Devin Booker had a standout performance, scoring 32 points for the Suns.
This poor shooting display ultimately led to the Warriors’ disappointing 108-104 loss in a game they could have won if they had shot closer to the league average.
