“These HYPOCRITES are pushing me to retire” Enes Kanter Freedom calls out Adam Silver, NBA in gutsy move
Enes Kanter Freedom chose to use his platform to literally fight for justice on all issues around the world. He has been very outspoken about his views on various struggles in life including his own stint with racial discrimination and politics. He is currently a free agent in the NBA but reasons outside of business and basketball.
The former Boston Celtics center has been fighting against forceful laboring in China. His actions received a lot of backlash and affected the Association as well unfortunately. China withdrew from their streaming agreements and banned the telecasting of anything related to Kanter. However, this did not stop him from calling out his peers LeBron James and endorsers like Nike as well.
Enes Kanter Freedom weighs in on Brittney Griner’s arrest
As many of you are aware, WNBA star Brittney Griner is currently being held in detention by the Russian federation after being caught carry hashish oil through airport customs. The Phoenix Mercury All-Star has been detained since February without any sort of contact being made to the US. She was set to go into trial last with an extended detention period. Many believe is being used as a political pawn.
Enes Kanter Freedom also showed his support for the star’s immediate release saying, “They definitely need to do more, like I said again, one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world. Human rights is above politics, so I’m going to do whatever I can to bring awareness and be the voice of all the innocent people who don’t have a voice.”
Enes Kanter Freedom calls the NBA and Adam Silver hypocrites
The NBA has been a supporter towards human justice and equality. But Enes Kanter Freedom’s antics has also brought them a seriously amount of damage. According to him, the league has been trying to make him retire early because of his willingness to be outspoken. He claims he will not be able to play his 12th season or even have a future with the league.
“They’re pushing me to retire at the age of 30, unfortunately. I’m going to push through it. I’m still working out, I’m still practicing. But, the one thing I can say is, the NBA and Adam Silver is definitely one of the most hypocritical organizations and one of the most hypocritical commissioners out there in the world. They stand up for things until it affects their money and business.”
