“The world needs to be watching events in China” Enes Kanter Freedom takes a DIG at NBA while addressing the human rights violations

Enes Kanter Freedom
Enes Kanter Freedom addressed on Wednesday on the abuse of human rights occurring in China as well as the assault on the rule of law being led by the present Turkish President. Freedom has been a ferocious advocate for human rights and has been seen condemning the NBA for its ties to China which led to his absence from the league.
Enes Kanter Freedom, the NBA free agent center, was in the midst of petitioning for citizenship when he was arrested in Turkey in 2018 on accusations of belonging to an armed terrorist group, an accusation he denies. Regarding his failure to sign with an NBA team, Freedom has been outspoken on this and he thinks his controversial opinions prevent him from receiving another chance in the NBA.
Appearing on the Magnitsky awards show to collect the ‘Outstanding human rights activist’ award, Freedom talked about how everyone should be aware of the situation that persists in China and Turkey, his home country. During his speech, he stated: “The world needs to be watching events in China, looking at disappearing freedoms in Turkey.”
He continued his speech by outlining how he came to be an activist and how he learned about the millions of Muslims suffering in Chinese prison camps.
He also thought back on how he was forced out of the NBA following China severed all ties with the league just because Enes wore a shoe to express his opposition to the country that damaged nationwide relationships.
Enes Kanter Freedom and his 11-year-long NBA career

Enes Kanter Freedom was selected by the Utah Jazz as the third overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft. During his debut season with the Jazz, Kanter participated in every game, appearing in 66 contests while averaging 4.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.
After less than four seasons in Salt Lake City, where he had a breakout season, the center was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Before being traded once more, the center established himself as one of the best backup centers in the league. In 2017, Kanter moved to the New York Knicks, where he tallied 32 double-doubles while averaging 14.1 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Enes Kanter won MVP honors at the 2009 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, where he contributed to his country’s junior team winning a bronze medal. After his time with the Knicks, he later played for the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers, where he also established himself as a backup center with limited playing time.
He then continued to play for those two teams for the following two seasons before being traded to the Houston Rockets, who later released him. In 35 games for the Celtics, he made his final playing stop in Boston, where he averaged 3.7 points and 4.6 rebounds.

Enes Kanter Freedom will continue to fight for human rights despite facing pressure

Enes Kanter Freedom left the NBA after last season and has since taken a stand against the NBA, Nike, and other NBA stars, including LeBron James and Michael Jordan as they are the face of Nike, which supports human rights violations in China.
The 30-year-old center even thinks that his banishment from the league is an act of sympathy towards China. Freedom has regularly criticized the country for allegedly violating the human rights of the Uyghur people.
In recent years, Enes Kanter Freedom has spoken out on a variety of geopolitical problems, including those involving Turkey. An international arrest warrant for him has been issued by the Turkish president’s office as he has used the NBA’s significant platform to condemn Turkey’s increasingly authoritarian agenda. He has recently attacked the NBA for not speaking out about China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims while denouncing Kyrie Irving for endorsing a film that promoted antisemitic information.
