“One way to bring down a Billion-dollar company” ESPN falls victim to fake quote by Ja Morant on Michael Jordan

“One way to bring down a Billion-dollar company” ESPN falls victim to fake quote by Ja Morant on Michael Jordan

Ja Morant, ESPN, Michael Jordan

Ja Morant received an apology from ESPN on Monday after the network broadcast a fabricated report about the Memphis Grizzlies guard suggesting that Michael Jordan would be “just another superstar” in the modern NBA. The network misquoted Memphis Grizzlies star guard Morant when he was really talking about Chicago Bulls superstar Jordan. The statement came from the Twitter account Ballsack Sports.

The fake comment was discussed live on air by David Jacoby and Kendrick Perkins of “This Just In” programme, who incorrectly identified Bleacher Report as the source. You need to be careful of the misleading comments that are shared on social media. Ballsack Sports is a sports account that has a reputation for fabricating comments and attaching player names to it. They are occasionally taken up by sports media outlets.

ESPN apologizes to Morant in their latest tweet

On or off the court, Ja Morant has the power to ignite everyone. After seeing him in action throughout the most recent season and the 2022 Playoffs, we can say that with absolute certainty. Like some other NBA stars including Kevin Durant or Draymond Green, he has a strong Twitter following. No matter who he is up against, the 22-year-old never hesitates to express his opinions. The young All-Star recently made a comment in an interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report that startled the NBA world.

The $50 billion-plus Walt Disney-owned ESPN is quickly rising to the top of the list of the funniest sports news organisations. Over the years, as they have placed a greater emphasis on clickbait content, the calibre of their in-game commentary has continuously decreased. At times, they even go beyond all reasonable bounds. Whether it was done on purpose or because they were mislead, the episode with Jacoby and Kendrick Perkins on Monday was a major mistake by the team in charge of selecting the subjects for discussion.

It was only a false assertion from the Ballsack Sports Twitter account, which has previously embarrassed ESPN, TNT, and several other major media organisations. Laughing and making fun of ESPN’s comical idiocy, Ja Morant and the Twittersphere did so, and Taylor Rooks made it obvious that Ja had not stated anything of the such.
