Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic‘s rant was heard by all. His point about the Los Angeles Lakers getting 23 free throws in the fourth quarter compared to 4 for them was talked about all over the world. But one stinging comment from a former player did not sit well with fans.

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Evan Turner posted a response to Rajakovic’s rant during the post-game press conference on his official Instagram account. He said;

You gotta let your assistant coaches do the rant when "you have accent".

This led to several fans replying negatively to his post. He has since issued an apology during a live session saying;

If it offended you, I’m sorry, for real, for real. No funny sh*t. All love.

It seemed like damage control from Turner, but he has apologized to Rajakovic, Canadian basketball fans, and Raptors fans, effectively covering all the parties involved.

Evan Turner retired from the league in 2020 after playing for 11 seasons. Other than a few good years with the 76ers, he majorly acted as a rotational player.Of course, his history with the franchise means the comments were never going to sit well with fans.

Turner wanted to poke fun at Rajakovic, but little did he realize that his own followers would turn against the joke. His subsequent apology seems to have quieted the noise for now.

Darko Rajakovic’s rant has the basketball world talking

Darko Rajakovic was visibly upset after his Raptors lost to the Lakers 131-132. The reason for the loss as per Rajakovic was the 23 free throws the Lakers shot in the 4th quarter. In a game that was otherwise close throughout, such a decisive situation ought to infuriate the losing side.

Rajakovic’s open questioning of the officiating is bound to draw fines from the league office. Still, fans will be happy that he made his point loud and clear. In a season when officiating has been questionable many a time, his open rant came across as much-needed.
