Darko Rajakovic, the Serbian professional basketball head coach of the Toronto Raptors made the news after his post-game press conference rant following his team’s defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. In the aftermath, a former player showed little inclination to lend support to Rajakovic.

Sharing his frustration with the referees, Rajakovic openly criticized what he saw as favoritism towards the Lakers. He pointed out a clear difference in free throw awards, highlighting that the Lakers got 23, while the Raptors only got two, all in the crucial fourth quarter. This controversial situation unfolded in a closely fought game, ending with the Los Angeles Lakers narrowly winning 132-131.

In a now-deleted comment on the popular social media platform, Instagram, former player, and 2010 NBA draft second pick, Evan Turner made a despicable comment following the Raptors coach’s rant.

You gotta let your assistant coaches do the rant when 'you have an accent.'

Turner, however, later issued an apology for his distasteful comments towards Coach Rajakovic on his Instagram Live. He said:

Once again.....If it offended you, I'm sorry. For real, for real. No funny sh*t. All love.

Darko Rajakovic goes on after Toronto’s loss

He wasn’t happy with the number of free throws the Lakers were getting compared to his team.

It's outrageous. What happened tonight, this is completely B.S. This is shame. Shame for the referees. Shame for the league to allow this. Twenty-three free throws for them, and we get two free throws in the fourth quarter? Like, how to play the game? I understand respect for All-Stars and all that, but we have star players on our team as well.

He went on to say that his team wasn’t meant to win from the get-go and the referee was for the Lakers

They had to win tonight? If that's the case, just let us know, so we don't show up for the game. Just give them a win. But that was not fair tonight. And this is not happening first time for us.

With a hefty fine by the league almost guaranteed, Rajakovic can still be expected to have received appreciation from his team, for the comments.
