Former NBA and Golden State Warriors star Nemanja Bjelica was in the news for the wrong reasons. The former NBA champion had a life-threatening situation develop in his hometown. Former Serbian football player Nikola Petković threatened Bjelica with a pair of scissors. Such were the threats from Nikola Petković that the footballer was arrested immediately. The incident has sent shockwaves through the internet.

Petković confronted Bjelica in a children’s playroom in Belgrade, Serbia. He then shouted curses at Bjelica. To prove his point further, he drew out a pair of scissors, and threatened Bjelica by saying;

I will take your family, your children, your wife and you. I will take your money.

Petković threatened Bjelica in front of his children. When he took out the scissors, police stopped Petković and arrested him. The former Golden State Warriors player was checked at a hospital and was deemed to be fine.

The reasons behind Petković threatening Bjelica are as of yet unknown. But it must be something severe, as a professional footballer ended up taking the matter into his own hands. However, Bjelica did not expect such a harrowing confrontation, especially in front of his children. The incident was covered extensively by Serbian and Turkish media.

Bjelica currently plays for the Fenerbahçe Basketball team. Nemanja Bjelica played in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. He was known for his outside shooting and physical defense, and retired in 2023. Petković has played for Red Star Belgrade and Eintrack Frankfurt among other football clubs.

No one in their life would like such a life-threatening confrontation, especially not in front of their own children. For Nemanja Bjelica to face such an altercation is bound to have brought fear into the minds of his children.
