Ex-NBPA VP and Utah Jazz’s assistant coach Keyon Dooling arrested in health care fraud scheme
Keyon Dooling
Keyon Dooling is a former NBA player who has played for seven different teams in his thirteen years career in the league. His career stats are 7.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game. In 2013 Keyon Dooling officially retired from the league and went on to become a union officer for straight eight years and eventually he also became its first vice president. He was on good terms with most of the people around at the National Basketball Player Association. Now he was serving as an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz as last year he got added to the crew of Quin Snyder.
Recently, Keyon made it to the NBA headlines as he got arrested in a health care fraud scheme. The Utah Jazz gave a statement on his arrest and stated: “It is a case concerning his time at the National Basketball Players Association, prior to him joining our organization. He has been put on paid administrative leave. Due to the ongoing legal process, we will refrain from further comment.” They also mentioned that they came to know about it on Wednesday morning and had no idea about it.
The officials have said that Keyon Dooling was allegedly engaged in the scheme and recruited other co-conspirators to join the scheme and illegally received $350,000 from the plan. The case was started in October but Keyon Dooling is the most recent addition on Wednesday. Some other mentions by the officials are Anthony Allen, Desiree Allen, Alan Anderson, Shannon Brown, William Bynum, Ronald Glen Davis, Christopher Douglas-Roberts, Darius Miles, Jamario Moon, Ruben Patterson, Eddie Robinson, Sebastian Telfair, Charles Watson Jr., Terrence Williams, Anthony Wroten, and Palacio. The investigation still continues with the fingers being up and pointed at Keyon Dooling as the authorities are also backed up with some great evidence.

Keyon Dooling’s involvement in defrauding NBA’s health and welfare plan
The authorities released a text exchange between Keyon Dooling and Aamir Wahab (a dentist from California). In the text messages the two are talking about running the plan or scheme they have planned while the dentist mentions the league as he quotes: “Lol I’m down bro. Get me the whole NBA (laughing emoji)”. There’s also one other message which sums it all up and makes it crystal clear that Keyon Dooling was involved as he talks about the amounts, limits to stay off the mark, and the bank details with another co-conspirator.
The fans aren’t happy hearing the news. As the Utah Jazz are already suffering in the postseason against the Luka Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks after being not that good in the regular season. Now with Keyon Dooling being under federal charges and having a criminal case filed on his name the franchise’s reputation wouldn’t really be at that great of a risk but questions would be asked as he is on their coaching staff. The authorities are still investigating and trying to get it close and done as soon as they can.
