Watch: Fan makes his way onto the court just in case things gets feisty after Patrick Beverley ‘cheaply’ shoved Deandre Ayton
Patrick Beverly Ayton and Davis
Patrick Beverley is not only known for his glued defense on the opposing team but also for standing up for his teammates. In the latest game between Los Angles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, the veteran guard proved just that. Things got rough between in the 4th quarter when Partick Beverley shoved Deandre Ayton from behind which, leading to former’s ejection.
Perhaps the tension started when Ayton stared down Anthony Davis after dunking the ball right in Davis’ face. After which when Austin Reaves drove to the basket, Devin Booker denied the in-form Davis’ screen and blocked Reaves. Booker and Ayton both stared down Reaves after he fell to the ground, and Beverley didn’t not like the look of it, as he came running from behind and pushed Ayton who fell to the court as well.
Perhaps that was the boiling point for both teams as they tangled to almost start a brawl. However, the highlight of the whole incident was a Suns fan who was ready and locked in for the potential brawl between the opposing teams. As the situation between the team started to get heated he was seen crossing rows to come to the Suns’ support on the court in case he was needed. The man in the white hoodie was ready for all the smoke in case things got out of hand.
However, fans getting on the court is not allowed in the NBA for security reasons and can get them potentially thrown out of the arena. In some cases, NBA and the franchise also ban fans for years or a lifetime as a penalty for their violent and other behavior. But watching a fan standing up for his team is always a good sight unless it is violence.
Lakers react to Patrick Beverley’s ejection after he shoved Deandre Ayton to the ground
After the game between Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns players from both teams reacted to the incident between Beverley and Deandre Ayton. Devin Booker called out Patrick Beverley for shoving Ayton in the back and said, “Pat needs to stop pushing people in the back, Push them in the chest. That’s all I got to say.” Fans perhaps took an exception to that and called out Booker for the double standard, reminding him of pushing Dennis Schröder during their playoff game.
After the game, Patrick Beverley also pointed out that the referees should have intervened when Ayton was mean-mugging Austin Reaves. For Beverley, the referees should have separated it. He said, “…referees don’t get into it to kind of separate it, control the game, so I’m going to stand up for my teammate.” However, Beverley accepted that the incident was unfortunate as it happened on national TV but added that he was a foxhole guy and commits to the team and the city once he puts on the jersey.
Lakers forward Anthony Davis stood in support of Beverley and said, “We got each other’s back…… We don’t let anybody stand over our teammate. … That’s disrespectful.”
Russell Westbrook who himself is known for intensity and fierceness on the court said he loved what he saw from Beverley and added that as teammates knowing that they had each others’ back was important for the tea.
