Game one between the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves finished off as a complete surprise to many. Prior to the series opener, Karl Anthony-Towns had some words for the alleged doubters implying that the Wolves are going to play hard and achieve the unthinkable. That wishful comment worked out as the Wolves would defeat the Grizzlies 130-117 with better scoring on the offensive end.

However, Game 2 was more or less within expectations. Ja Morant would record 23 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds coming so close to a triple-double. The Grizzlies were almost unstoppable on offense shooting 47.8% from the field, 32.4% from three, and 78.1% from the line. In an act of desperation, Karl Anthony-Towns made a hard screen to keep Morant away from Jaylen Nowell. Ja took a hard jab to the thigh leaving him on the ground immediately. No major injuries were sustained as he helped the Grizzlies come back from a Game 1 loss.

Ja Morant is one of the leaner players in the NBA and to be big bodies by a 7-footer could be an injury eagerly waiting to happen. Fans were not pleased by the screen Towns had made. Here are a few reactions to the incident.

Ja Morant was an absolute team wrecker against the Wolves last night while being just a single rebound away from a triple-double. Memphis won the game 124-96 and will head over to Minneapolis on Saturday, April 23, 2022. It seemed like the biggest problem faced by Minnesota was turnovers recording 19 during the game. This gave the Grizzlies more opportunities to extend their lead.

Besides Morant, six other players record points in double figures. Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. The Timberwolves barely made a showing on offense as Anthony Edwards had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and a single assist. They did make efforts to try in stopping the Grizzlies defensively recording 9 blocks and 5 steals, but the compensation for turnovers would not work for them.
