Fans want the New York Knicks to retire Carmelo Anthony's #7 jersey as he officially retires from the league after 19 seasons.

Carmelo Anthony has made his way back to the NBA headlines. And, unfortunately, the reason is saddening and heartbreaking for the basketball world. As Melo has decided to hang the gloves and has officially announced his retirement from the NBA after spending 19 years in the league. Not many expected Carmelo Anthony to retire and were still holding to their belief of him making a comeback to the league.
But unfortunately, his legendary and illustrious run which started in 2023 when he was drafted alongside LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade has come to an end. The Denver Nuggets picked him 3rd overall in the draft and he spent 8 seasons with them before getting traded to the New York Knicks. At his hometown with the Knicks, he spent 6 memorable seasons and then was shipped around the league.
Carmelo Anthony in his career has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. The league slept on him this season as he had no great deal to get a last run, and now we’ll never get to see him ball out on the NBA hardwood. Carmelo Anthony’s illustrious career has several accolades registered under his name ranging from 10x All-Star selections to NBA 75th Anniversary Team. But unfortunately, he never won a title.
Carmelo Anthony’s last best run was with the New York Knicks. And, after that, he was never able to find a solid system to work with or even a home, where the team trusted him. And, now with him calling retirement via an emotional video of his on his social media pages, where he even passed his legacy to his son Kiyan. The question which has the internet thinking is whether the New York Knicks will retire his jersey or not.

Carmelo Anthony is probably the best player New York Knicks have had in the last decade. He also holds a lot many spots when discussing the franchise stats and leaders. Carmelo Anthony is a top-10 member for Knicks field goals made, 3-pointers made, free throws drilled, offensive boards, defensive boards, points (10186/ 7th All-Time franchise leader), and a lot many other stats.
Carmelo Anthony also ranks 9th in the All-Time scoring list. He can also make it to the Basketball Hall Of Fame. And, now the fans are demanding the New York Knicks to retire his jersey. You can find some of the many reactions posted by fans on Twitter here below:
