“Stay Classy NBA” – Fans in agony after Ja Morant is ejected over bizarre reason against OKC Thunder
Ja Morant with the ref
Ja Morant and the in-game officials might be the new and biggest rivals of the NBA. As once again they are back in the headlines and the reason is a very confusing ejection. As Ja Morant was tossed out of the game between Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder for having a conversation with the fans.
These days the refs are handing out ejections like anything and ruining the game of basketball. Ja Morant was just talking with a fan and he got tossed out. The fan who was on the other end talking, encouraging and cheering the All-Star point guard up, Lisa has even talked about the exchange.
As reported by Joe Mussatto of Oklahoman Sports, Lisa is a Ja Morant superfan who lives in OKC. Revealing the interaction which got the athletic guard tossed out Lisa said: “I was just telling Ja, ‘let’s go.’” Lisa and other fans on the courtside seats were handing out their support as Grizzlies were down by 20.
Ja Morant even responded to the encouraging fans and his response is probably the reason for his ejection. As Lisa talking about his response said: “He was just like he can’t do much because (the refs) missed a call.” This was probably heard by the ref and with 43.2 seconds remaining for the second quarter to end, Ja was ejected.
NBA Twitter heats up reacting to JA Morant’s weird ejection from OKC vs. Grizzlies
Fans can’t believe Ja Morant was ejected for having a conversation with a fan. Even though he made a statement pointing out the missed calls of the ref. But that doesn’t mean he should be tossed out of the game. Fans out there are hating the officiating system of the league. They also want NBA to get it right from this time and investigate. You can find some of the many reactions posted by fans on Twitter here below:
The ejection had Ja Morant limited to 6 points, 2 assists and 5 rebounds. He suited up for only 16 minutes before he was thrown out by the ref. Grizzlies‘ Dillion Brooks made all the possible efforts by dropping 32 points. But unfortunately, those weren’t enough to get past the OKC Thunder. As they lost at 115-109 and broke their 7-game winning streak.
After getting ejected from the game, Ja Morant with the help of his dad had a word with the fans who were on the other end. As Tee brought his phone over so they can FaceTime. The fans were feeling awful but Ja knowing it ain’t their fault and was a wrong call said: “it’s all good.”
