After dominating Milwaukee Bucks with 44 points, Anthony Davis came even stronger against the Washington Wizards on Sunday. The big man dropped 55 points in a win against the Wizards team. The former Pelican star also grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked 3 shots as the Los Angeles Lakers registered their 10th win of the season.

Anthony Davis scored 55 points, only 4 points shy of his career-high 59 points against the Pistons in 2016. He made 22 of his 30 shots from the field and also grabbed 17 rebounds along with 3 blocks. He also shot 2 of 3 from the three-point shot and made all nine of his free throws in the game. He has been averaging 35.3 PPG in his last 9 games.

Lakers teammates heaped praise on Davis’ performance last night. “Jayson Tatum is playing his ass off, but when you’re talking about people in the MVP race or category, that probably will change after tonight,” Lakers starting guard Patrick Beverley said. “[Davis] should be up there, for sure.” Even the fans in the Capital One Arena made sure to appreciate A.D. for putting on a show as they shouted and chanted “M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!

With 4.28 remaining in the 3rd quarter Russell Westbrook drove from the corner and dropped a pass to Davis who rose up to dunk the ball. Former Laker Kyle Kuzma, who was right behind Davis, blocked him from behind, relentless A.D. collected the ball again and hammered it over two Wizards defenders- Kristaps Porzingis and Daniel Gafford.

Watching Davis perform at this high level, some of the fans started to ponder if old vintage Anthony Davis has returned. One of the fans wrote, “My god he’s actually back this is nice to see.” Another also wrote, “He’s better than Giannis.” here are some reactions from the fans on Twitter;

LeBron James heaped praise on his teammate and said that Anthony Davis was playing at an MVP level. “He’s been unbelievable, man,” James said. “On both sides of the floor. I mean, playing like the MVP of this league. Just straight dominance.” Davis is one of those unique players in the league who can have the best night in the game on both sides of the floor. He can be the best defender and best scorer on the floor on any given night. “Our team is locked in right now,” Davis said. “Very focused on both sides of the ball. Overall, we’re just trying to make up ground.”

Davis also openly spoke about his championship hopes and made it clear that nothing less than a championship would be successful for him this season. The Lakers are expected to make some moves after waiving Matt Ryan earlier this week, which opens up two roster spots for the Lakers. If Rob Pelinka is able to bring in good players or good shooters their championship ceiling might rise exponentially.
