The NBA has suspended forward Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors for five games. The suspension came due to Draymond “forcibly grabbing” Rudy Gobert by the neck during Tuesday’s Timberwolves game. The league also penalized them for their involvement in the incident. This has not sat well with the NBA fans.
The on-court incident involving Rudy Gobert, teammate Jaden McDaniels, and Golden State Warriors players Klay Thompson and Draymond Green resulted in a $25,000 fine. Following the incident, which happened in the first few minutes of Tuesday’s game, McDaniels, Thompson, and they sent Green off, where Rudy stayed for a while and played 35 minutes into the game.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweeted about the fines. This is what he said:
The NBA is fining Klay Thompson, Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels $25,000 each, sources tell ESPN.Adrian Wojnarowski via X.
Because of his five-game suspension, Green will forfeit $769,705 in salary, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. But thanks to a “tax variance credit,” the Warriors will only have to pay $2,597,762, which is 50% of Green’s entire fine. Although Green will be absent for five games, the Warriors will surely feel his absence.
Fans React to Rudy Gobert being Penalised for getting Head Block by Draymond Green
Although the NBA has given their statement regarding the penalization and why they penalized these players. They’re still a lot of confusion and fury among the fans and supporters. They felt the NBA fined Rudy for nothing. Even Rudy expressed his opinions about the $25,000 fine he received from the NBA and criticized the organization for its choice.

This is what Gobert said:
You know every situation is different, but to me, that was more than just a reaction. That was a personal attack. Me being fined when I chose to, when I was being a peacemaker, and I chose to keep my hands up while I was being assaulted, is shameful. Shameful. And I am gonna appeal that fine,"Rudy Gobert via Chris Hine of the Star Tribune
Fans seemed baffled because it’s funny how Rudy has got the fine. Although he did make contact and was into the fight, if we see the video clearly it was the heat of the moment when he just happened to stand for his teammate. Timberwolves and NBA fans were not happy with the decision. Check out some of the fan reactions:
With eight victories in their first eleven games of the season, Gobert and the Timberwolves are off to a fantastic start. They currently trail the Denver Nuggets, who lead the West, by one game. Rudy Gobert, for his part, has played in all 11 of Minnesota’s games thus far, averaging 11.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks while shooting 51.2 percent from the field.
