“Boy needs to be drug tested” – NBA fans LAUGH OFF Patrick Beverley’s massive contract demand in free agency

The Play-in tournament presented the final chance for eight teams to secure one of the four available spots in the NBA playoffs. One of those teams was the Chicago Bulls. Led by Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, the team seemed pretty solid. But a rough regular season and a disappointing loss to the Miami Heat in the battle for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference ended their campaign.

The Bulls added veteran guard Patrick Beverley in February following his exit from the Los Angeles Lakers to bolster their roster ahead of the playoffs. He averaged six points and three assists a game, failing to provide the spark that Chicago expected.

Beverley is set to hit free agency this offseason. There will be a slew of suitors for the combative guard, but only if the price is right. But it seems it won’t be for a lot of teams. In a recent episode of the Pat Bev Podcast, Beverley said that his game never dropped and wants a contract worth $13-15 million a year.

Beverley will turn 35 in July. His age, coupled with his production on the court this season, will likely force teams hunting for a guard to look elsewhere in the open market.

Some players making around the same amount that Beverley is demanding include Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Clarkson, Christian Wood, and Josh Hart. All productive players who can be reliable scoring options and can win games on their own. It’s highly unlikely any team will even get close to the number that Beverley is demanding. However, he can try and see whether any team is willing to take a punt on a veteran guard, who is a menacing defender, a locker-room leader, and has showcased an ability to be a reliable scorer in the past. It’s not likely, but certainly not impossible for Beverley to fetch a $13-15 million deal in the offseason.
