After being found guilty of narcotics charges in August, Brittney Griner is currently being sent to a Russian penal colony, a move that had already horrified people all over the world. However, according to her Russian legal team, neither her whereabouts nor a destination is known.
As soon as Brittney Griner appeared in the Russian jail for her trial, the basketball world abruptly fell silent. The two-time WNBA defensive player of the year and seven-time all-star was detained by Russian Customs while in possession of vape cartridges that included cannabis oil. Griner received a nine-year sentence in August after being convicted guilty of nonviolent drug offenses in Russia.
The legal team representing Griner submitted an appeal against her nine-year sentence on August 15 but it was rejected again in October.
