Stephen Curry, the standout point guard for the Golden State Warriors, was dismissed from the game against the Memphis Grizzlies late in the fourth quarter. Curry threw his mouthpiece after becoming upset with teammate Jordan Poole’s choice of shot, leading to his dismissal, which was just the third of his career.

With less than a minute left, Poole attempted a long 3-pointer with the Warriors leading 116-114 but he failed miserably. Curry was ejected, but Poole went on to win the game with a second left on the clock. This led Poole to make some light-hearted fun of Curry after the game. Curry ran into Poole in the tunnel as he was exiting the court. The two then hugged after Poole jokingly threw his mouthpiece.

Steph Curry finished the game with a game-high 34 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. He also had four made 3-pointers on 52.6% shooting despite being ejected. On 57.1% shooting, Poole tacked on 21 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Ja Morant, an All-Star point guard, led Memphis with 29 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, two steals, and 50.0% shooting for the game.

After their victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, Jordan Poole voiced his opinion regarding Steph Curry’s late-game ejection. Poole attempted an ill-advised shot, Curry threw his mouthpiece in rage. Curry’s outburst resulted in a technical foul and his dismissal from the contest by the officials. Poole expressed his anger with the decision following the game.

Poole said, “No reason he should be thrown out in the last 3 minutes of the game. He’s one of the greatest players of all time.” In some of these games throughout the season, the refereeing has come under scrutiny. On the majority of occasions, if not always, the referees have been tough in their foul calls. The Warriors were fortunate to avoid suffering another disappointing defeat.

The Golden State Warriors also played competitively down the stretch, which has been a problem for them all season. Midway into the third quarter, they found themselves 10 points behind but didn’t allow the Memphis Grizzlies to take a greater advantage. The Warriors must put together a run of victories before the All-Star break because the Western Conference is still wide open, but it won’t be for much longer.
