“We up to something” – Fans react as LeBron James-led Lakers edge past the Sacramento King to earn their fifth straight victory

LeBron James vs Sacramento Kings

In the second game of a back-to-back on Saturday night, the Los Angeles Lakers traveled to face the Sacramento Kings in an effort to maintain their perfect record in 2023. The Lakers beat the Kings 136-134 to clinch their fifth straight victory despite LeBron James‘ questionable participation. It’s been a little bit of necessity driving ingenuity, but the Lakers seem to have discovered a way to manage life without Anthony Davis.

The club has even found a way to play winning basketball despite losing their star center more than three weeks ago, while juggling travel, back-to-back games, and ailments that go beyond Davis’. Role players have taken advantage of additional minutes and opportunities to shoot by being more competitive, and feeling more urgency from LeBron James on down.

The Los Angeles Lakers were, led by 37 points from LeBron James and two free throws from Dennis Schroder with 3.6 seconds left. De’Aaron Fox led Sacramento with 34 points and nine assists. At the buzzer, he missed a jumper from half-court. With his 27 total points, Schroder helped the Lakers win six of their previous seven games and move to 19-21 overall. James added seven assists to his eight rebounds. With 48.1 seconds left, he committed Domantas Sabonis’ sixth foul and scored on the shot and free throw to give the Lakers a one-point advantage.

The Lakers have made significant progress in recent weeks toward returning to the postseason conversation. And on Saturday in Sacramento, many of those qualities remained stoic. James was once more a juggernaut with a tremendous game that defied his age. Schroder continued to play some of his finest basketball of the year. Davis’s replacement, Bryant, continued to do a great job. The game Westbrook played was among his best since joining the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 19-21 after winning 5 straight games. LeBron James is playing exceptionally well and could guide the team to the play-in round even if they are still below.500 right now. It may seem difficult for the Lakers to finish among the top six teams in the Western Conference, but there is a significant likelihood that they will place 10th or better. They have Shannon Sharpe’s confidence and potential to be a terrifying team. On “Undisputed,” he informed Skip Bayless of this

Sharpe said, “If Anthony Davis can come back mid-January, maybe early February and LeBron James is still playing at this level … I think the Lakers can get to the play-in. When they get to the play-in and have Anthony Davis, they’re gonna be a very scary team.”

The Lakers are hoping that Davis will return soon despite the lack of a timeline for his ailment. He is an important member of the squad and has put on some incredible performances in 2022–2023.
