“Looking like his old self. Love to see it” Fans react to ‘VINTAGE’ John Wall’s classic behind the back layup in transition against Jazz
John Wall
Being an excellent passer of the ball makes John Wall a double threat in the offense. But it was his injury in 2019 that kept the point guard out for over a year. Wall suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon “after slipping and falling in his home”. Wall has been finding his grove lately with the Clippers in the 2022-23 season. With 7 minutes and 4 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter Wall drove to the basket in transition and scored a behind-the-back layup for the Clippers. Wall’s basket gave the Clippers an 89-93 lead. John Wall is known for his electric speed and excellent passing abilities in the perimeter area.
So far Wall has been having great support from his teammates and the Clippers organization. Talking about Wall, his teammate Robert Covington remarked, “A guy that still has a lot in the tank, man. I’ve seen John play for a lot of years, you know being in the East. The guy that I see now, I can see that he’s been through a lot, because I’ve been there before. But once you come out on top, and you release all of that, everything else is phenomenal.”
Wall has also received a lot of support from fans all around the NBA. He not only fought through his mother’s death due to cancer but also fought depression like a warrior. Writing in The Players’ Tribune, John Wall wrote an article titled “I am Still Here” where he talked about his mental health and the “thought of committing suicide”. Seeing Wall bring back his vintage move some of the fans reacted, and one wrote: “We gotta name that move after him at this point”. Another one added: “Looking like his old self. Love to see it.” And, this just doesn’t end here you can find many here below too:
Wall has been using his minutes with the Clippers to his maximum benefit when Kawhi Leonard is away. John Wall has been averaging 12.8 points in just 22.2 minutes this season and averaging almost 5 assists a game. Despite Kawhi being injured and not playing the Clippers are sitting in the 8th spot in the Western Conference with a 5-5 record. With Kawhi’s return, Wall and the Clippers will look to take the top spot in the conference.
