“This ain’t Toronto” – Fans troll the life out of Kawhi Leonard to airball the game-winning shot against Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks break Los Angeles' hearts after blocking Kawhi Leonard's game winner.
Kawhi Leonard
Last night, the Milwaukee Bucks utterly destroyed Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers. The team had a lead of up to 21 points at one point throughout the game before losing by one point as the final horn blew. Without a doubt, Kawhi Leonard has established himself as one of his generation’s standout clutch scorers. The Klaw has typically been an unstoppable force in the last seconds of games.
Despite this, the six-time “All-Star” fumbled this opportunity. Leonard had had a costly shot fail in the closing seconds of the Bucks vs. Clippers game. For the Bucks to win, Leonard’s poor shot selection and decision-making were crucial. Amid heavy guarding the Clippers star launched the ball in the air which became an air ball. Clippers’ scoring was led by Norman Powell, who came off the bench and scored 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting. Paul George and Marcus Morris Sr. both contributed 16 points, while Kawhi Leonard scored 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ivica Zubac made 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The duo of Leonard and George has not lived up to the expectations placed on them since their debut in 2019. The squad hasn’t demonstrated a big drive to win championships outside of the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Not to add that their two stars have suffered a terrible toll from injuries, occasionally being rendered unable to play.
Given that they are presently in their fourth season with the team, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that this could be their last chance to compete for an NBA championship together. Here’s how the fans and critics responded to Kawhi’s missed shot.
Giannis Antetokounmpo scores 54 as the Bucks edged out Kawhi Leonard-led Clippers
On Thursday night, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 50+ points for the third time since the beginning of January, helping the Milwaukee Bucks defeat the visiting Los Angeles Clippers 106-105 in a thrilling comeback. Apart from shooting 21-for-39 from the field, Antetokounmpo also pulled down 19 rebounds. Despite sitting out much of the fourth quarter, Khris Middleton scored 16 points for Milwaukee off the bench. Jrue Holiday, who was just selected as an All-Star, had eight assists along with 12 points.
After the first quarter, Milwaukee trailed by nine points after scoring just 15 points, two more than its record low for a single quarter this season. The Bucks, however, went on a 6-0 run to conclude the first quarter, which they later transformed into a 16-1 run to tie the game at 25 in the second.
Even yet, Antetokounmpo came dangerously close to costing Milwaukee the lead in the dying moments. With 15 seconds left and the Bucks leading by one, the star tossed the ball out of bounds, giving Los Angeles another opportunity. Leonard’s potential game-winning jumper at the final second, though, was an airball.
