“I was shot in the face” Fearless Darvin Ham reveals why he doesn’t feel any pressure coaching LA Lakers

Darvin Ham
Darvin Ham was recently introduced as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers by the franchise. Many think he has landed himself in trouble as the job he has signed himself for is a risky one as you never know when you get scapegoated and are fired just like ex-coach Frank Vogel. But Darvin Ham, former Bucks Assistant Coach is least worried about all that stuff and is even ready to go to war for the franchise who gave him an opportunity which he won’t miss. He has already claimed that he has many ideas for the veteran roster to come up big in play and make a difference, especially Russell Westbrook. He would probably be the only coach in the league right now who is happy coaching Brodie. His first media day with the Lakers proved that he’s a real one and can be the game-changer for the franchise that didn’t even make it to the playoffs or the Play-in tournament this season.
Darvin Ham has already proved himself working on the coaching staff for Los Angeles Lakers during Kobe Bryant’s championship run from 2011-2013 but that run wasn’t successful as things just didn’t work right. But his presence was surely impactful on players like Dwight Howard and others as the work ethic was better and changed. Recently, he caught many eyes after the Milwaukee Bucks won the championship last season and he was present on their coaching staff assisting Giannis Antetokounmpo in his greats. He’s also a defensive expert something the Lakers who have blown many twenty points lead this year really need.

Darvin Ham is probably the most correct guy to fill in the Lakers roster and suit up as their Head Coach. But this isn’t liked by many as they troll him. At the press conference during his introduction, many media members grilled him by talking about the pressure Los Angeles Lakers as a franchise has on him. But he never fumbled in his reply and gave them an answer they’ll remember for years to come.

Darvin Ham on pressure as Head Coach of Los Angeles Lakers

Darvin Ham replying to the media questions regarding the pressure on him quoted: “I grew up in Saginaw, Michigan. I was shot in the face by accident, on 5 April 1988. If you go through something like that, it’s going to do one of two things: It’s going to make you fearful or fearless. It made me fearless. I don’t feel no pressure. It’s basketball. I could have been dead so easily. It set a foundation in me to never take anything for granted. So I’m not afraid of failure, or success. I’m only afraid of not being authentic.” That’s really something which separates him from the other options the Lakers had. As his toughness and mentality are just enough to get the job done.
He was out with his brother to get some pizza and that’s when he got shot in the face. As they were caught between crossfire after leaving the parking lot and he was just unfortunate on that day. But thankfully the doctors saved him. With the signing of Darvin Ham by the Los Angeles Lakers, the frustrated and corrupted fans are also back and riding with it as even they believe this man can change it all for the good of the franchise.
