It seems that Joel Embiid is currently the front-runner for the NBA MVP award based on the player poll, with Nikola Jokić in second place and Giannis Antetokounmpo in third. Embiid had an impressive season leading the league in scoring average for the second consecutive year and helping the Philadelphia 76ers secure their most regular-season wins since 2000-01.

According to Kevin Durant, if he had an MVP vote, he would give it to Joel Embiid. Durant praised Embiid’s dominant and unstoppable style of play and argued that he has been performing at a high level for the past two years. He also highlighted the fact that Embiid’s team is winning basketball games, further bolstering his case for the award.

Kevin Durant, in an episode of The ETCs by Boardroom, was asked about his pick for the MVP this year. Eddie Gonzalez asked Durant, “Who is your guy?” to which, Durant said, “Joel Embiid.” Durant backed up his claims and stated Embiid was “Flat-out unstoppable.” Gonzalez and Durant discussed Embiid being their pick in the previous seasons as well. Durant added that Embiid’s dominance made him stand out in comparison to all other competitors. Embiid playing at that dominant level proved that he deserved the award.

The Philadelphia 76ers had their highest number of regular-season wins since the 2000-01 season, with a total of 54 victories. While the actual media vote for this season’s MVP may end up being closer than the player poll. It would be difficult to argue against Joel Embiid’s case for the award. The six-time All-Star was the NBA’s scoring leader for the second consecutive season, averaging 33.1 points per game, and also tied his career-high for assists per game at 4.2.

The Philadelphia 76ers led by Embiid are very close to their own respective goals. Be it the team wanting to win their first championship since 1983 or Embiid becoming the MVP. The team has been in perfect form to achieve these goals and this time, it could all come true.

Joel Embiid had previously questioned the NBA’s criteria for players to be awarded the MVP title. This happened after Nikola Jokic was chosen as MVP over Embiid in the past few seasons despite many arguing that the Cameroonian deserved the award. Regardless of what happens this time, Embiid has amassed incredible support from fans and fellow players.

The Philadelphia 76ers lead their playoff series against Brooklyn Nets, 2-0. The team is very much in the form of conveniently winning this round and then having a championship run. It’ll be interesting to watch how things play out for the Sixers and Embiid from now on.
