It is a tradition in the United States of America that their National Anthem should be sung before any athletic event. The NBA is an organization that keeps in line with this tradition. The anthem, named the Star-Spangled Banner, is sung before every game. Teams often invite celebrities or singers to open the show by singing the National Anthem.

It was in this spirit that the Milwaukee Bucks invited American rapper – Flavor Flav – to do honors for them before their game v/s the Atlanta Hawks. The Star Spangled Banner is a challenging piece to sing since it is extremely complex, with a series of lows and highs. Flav, while being a good rapper, is a terrible singer.

The outcome was Flav screeching out the United States of America’s National Anthem as the entire stadium looked on. While there was potential in this crossover, it didn’t play out the way the Bucks expected it to.

The Bucks lost the game to the Hawks 127-110. Damian Lillard went cold tonight, scoring only 6 points in his 29 minutes on the court. The Bucks coaching staff will need to look into this loss. Hopefully, they can make the right changes before the Bucks’ next matchup, which will be against the Miami Heat.

NBA fans react to Flavor Flav singing the National Anthem

NBA fans across the United States were appalled at Flav’s performance. Many criticized him for apparently disrespecting the National Anthem since he didn’t sing it the way it was meant to be.

Hopefully, the Bucks take note of the criticism and hire a better singer to do the anthem next time. However, despite all the criticism it got, many fans said they enjoyed the performance, calling it entertaining.
