Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball. He is also the most influential modern superstar who has changed the game with his shooting skills. The Chef doesn’t just cook the league but destroys them as he’s the Greatest Shooter of All-Time. Stephen Curry always had these greats in him and even though he was heavily doubted by many he stayed locked in and got the job done.
But every great player has a great moment where his era starts. So does Stephen Curry. Former New York Knicks guard, Iman Shumpert recently revealed the exact moment when Curry got into serious business. Iman recently appeared on Showtime Basketball’s “All The Smoke,” podcast and there sitting alongside Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson he discussed the first game Curry sent a warning to the league.
Iman Shumpert was part of the unfortunate New York Knicks squad which got clowned by Stephen Curry. As the Warrior’s all-star guard dropped a then-season-high 54 points on their head. Iman reflecting on that moment quoted: “Bro before we knew it the man had 50 and the Garden was cheering for him. I was sick bro. Light-skin man I just want you to know bro. You ruined my day… That Light-skin man done got real vicious after that. It was real. It was run away after that.”
Further, Shumpert added: “He started shooting it from 40. Started turning around when he shot. I’m like you Gilbert Arenas now? Jesus Christ. The Knicks will do it to you. I really think about that moment. I think we ignited that confidence that came. After that game bro, he got disrespectful. He started trashing.” That was really the breakout season for Stephen Curry. He really showed a glimpse of what was ahead for the world during that season. Also, that particular game against New York Knicks at MSG brought many records and elite clubs to him.
Stephen Curry after the 2012-13 season
The 2012-13 NBA season was the first time Stephen Curry averaged more than 20 points per game. That was the start of his dominating era. And, after that season he took up the leadership role, got himself multiple all-star selections, MVP awards, NBA Championships, and even became the Greatest Shooter of All-Time. It’s been a decade since he actually started balling out and he’s still around clowning the league while hunting for more success.
The coming season is going to be very special for the Golden State Warriors. As it will decide whether they are still a dynasty or those days are gone. Stephen Curry still believes him to be in his prime and honestly, he isn’t even wrong while claiming that.
As he’s one of the best guards ever who has a solid impact on both ends of the floor. Also, he has already warned the league and now will be getting his revenge.
