Former Lakers star, Nick Young recently made his boxing debut with hopes and claims of shocking the world with his fighting skills. But unfortunately, nothing like that happened and he was thrown out of the ring by his opponent Malcolm Minikon. The former Lakers guard really disappointed the whole Lakers Nation as he didn’t put out the show he promised but instead was manhandled in the ring and went crashing into the ropes. Many around expected Nick Young to be a better boxer but the reality is often disappointing.
Nick Young was training for his fight since months but the results didn’t do any justice to him. He was expected to fight the American rapper Blueface. But the artist had to pull his name out of the event due to not getting a boxing license from California State Athletic Commission. The former Laker star so had to fight Minikon who was the replacement for the exhibition bout at Social Gloves 2. Lakers fans were rooting for Young but just like the squad last season even he disappointed them by not winning it all.
But he didn’t end up on the losing end as the fight was stopped during the fourth round (five rounds were to be played) and the former Lakers star wasn’t at fault as he suffered a dirty move from his opponent Malcolm Minikon. Nick Young went flying out of the ring through the ropes in the fourth round just before the fight was called off. And, the reason behind the stoppage and him making it out of the ring was an illegal and dirty move by Minikon.
Minikon didn’t just swing a strong arm at the former Laker but also gave him a headbutt which sent him out of the ring. The internet star though is denying all such claims but even the referee called it as clash of heads just before stopping the fight. It was an exhibition game so for many Minikon is the winner as he sent Young flying out of the ring. But if things were different the end results would have favored Nick as he was ahead in the race of points and was landing some good shots.

Nick is not a boxer and now there’s no doubt about it. As in his bout against Minikon he proved it all. He still lacks a lot of skills and even the very basic ones of defence and attack. He also has a very weird boxing stance but he did a perfect job using his size and basketball moves in the ring against his rival as he was landing some big time shots and even took away the mouthpiece of Malcolm by the second round.
