“He’s obviously in the Top 10 of all time” Former MIP unapologetically includes Stephen Curry in the Greatest-Ever list

“He’s obviously in the Top 10 of all time” Former MIP unapologetically includes Stephen Curry in the Greatest-Ever list

Gilbert Arenas on Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry won his 1st Finals MVP trophy during his 4th championship triumph. Though it was considerably delayed accolade for the 3-Point King, who did an astonishing job in the 2015 title run as well. Gilbert Arenas decided to savagely place him on the list of All time top 10 great players NBA players-lost.

Golden State Warriors came back from a rough patch and delivered a championship in 2022, their 4th in the last 8 seasons, and 7th overall. Superstar Steph Curry led the franchise throughout the regular season and playoffs to make a strong statement in the league. 3-point King elevated his game and also legacy with inaugural Western Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP trophies as individual accolades.

While he still has a huge gap to cover to be considered a GOAT in NBA, he is certainly now in conversation to be one of the top-10 players in the history of the league. The former Most Improved Player of the Year award winner – Gilbert Arenas was in an interview on VladTV, where he spoke about Curry’s claim to the top 10 list.

Stephen Curry, winning his 4th NBA title and 1st Finals MVP trophy cleared many doubts in his critics’ minds. He also cemented his position as one of the best guard positions, while closing in n the Top 10 list of many followers. 13-year veteran Gilbert Arenas also agree with Steph’s top-10 position.

Arenas said, “Without even just diving into my list, I’m gonna just go and say he’s gonna be top 10. Somehow I’m gonna put him in a Top 10 knowing what I know, knowing his work ethic, knowing his height, knowing what he does, the excitement being a guard, being a guard in Golden State where I was a guard too.”

Not mentioning the exact position on the list, Arenas added, “I’m gonna put him in a Top 10, just off of rip. It’s one of those things. I’ma put him and then I’ll try to figure it out from there.” Though former Wizard’s star guard praised his counterpart, he also mentioned that Curry might not go on to reach GOAT level, just because of his miniature size.

Arenas believe that Curry isn’t as athletic as other megastars restricting the Warriors’ franchise player to reach the GOAT level. “He’s gonna always be slighted because he’s little. It’s like we have this idea of what a GOAT is supposed to be – 6’6″ and above. When it comes to smaller guys, you have to do so much more to get the same credit. You gotta remember, he’s not a highlight reel when it comes to jumping and dunking and all this aerial stuff. He’s a floor general,”

Some of the points made by Arenas are valid, but lack of Athletism or body size can’t be considered as reasons to doubt Curry’s rise to GOAT rankings. And he is still active in the league, and might see a rise in his ‘ranking’

75 years is a wide window, and NBA has been blessed with many megastars that impacted the games. The GOAT debate is more over the impact of an athlete during his active period in the league. When it comes to the conversation of being one of the top-10 players of all time in the NBA, it is a matter of who gets replaced rather than who should be included.

The likes of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird are widely seen as irreplaceable on the list. While most lists have Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, and Wilt Chamberlain, completing the top 10 list. While everyone on the list has their way of impacting the sport, Stephen Curry also made a massive impression, forcing the opposition to make adjustments.

We will not replace any of the greats from the list but agree with Arena’s claims of Curry being on that list. We will let Arenas give Curry his exact position on the list, but without any doubt, Curry would be in Top-2 guards with Magic being the only one on the list.
