“Who can possibly hit his own 10-year old?” Former Sixth man of the Year Ben Gordon gets arrested after punching his own minor son
Ben Gordon has been one of the most problematic names associated with the NBA. The man has a large history of violent behavior and it seems as though he has found himself in trouble once again. But this time the situation is much worse than the ones of the past.
The former NBA athlete was caught physically assaulting his child in an airport while waiting to board a flight from New York to Chicago. Here is where the story gets even more twisted. The law enforcement officers found out the 10-year old already has a restraining order against his father.
It turns out the police were able to take Ben Gordon into federal custody. This was indeed a very cheap act of violence from a large man to a defenseless 10-year old child. The boy was later taken to the hospital by a relative to get himself checked.
Ben Gordon and his history with mental instability
Ben Gordan was a third overall pick in the 2004 draft and had great potential to become a top ranking player in the league. But unfortunately his unstable personality brought his career to a halt after getting involved in legal trouble several times back then.
The former Chicago Bulls player won the Sixth Man of the Year Award as well. It turns out his instability is due to his bipolar disorder. On several occasions he has stated that he always wanted to kill himself despite not having a reason to do so.
The former athlete got into legal trouble with his son back in 2018 after the court filed a restraining order for the child against his father. This was because Gordon use to often physically abuse his son who was only 6-years old at that time.
